3"vs 2.6" on axys

i would like to know the same thing! i picked a 155 2.6 in thoughts that the track speeds being higher would be more universal in most snow conditions. and i love track speed!

We will have both on the mountain today with deep freshies! 2.6 is awesome but I am thinking with this snow the 3" will get the win!

Same here. I went with a 2.6 155" coming off of a 2.4 163" thinking it would be similar or better. Second guessing my decision a bit...

You would think the 2.6" would have much higher track speed seeing as how it is lighter and has more clearance, paired with the belt drive. I will be buying an axys next year and I really thought the 2.6 would be the cats meow. I felt that Polaris only put the 3" out to keep up with the competitions offerings. In my mind it is still a bigger is better aspect that people have stuck in their heads.

I would love to hear some more feedback with regard to this, especially if anyone is able to compare the two side by side.

I would also be nice to get some feedback between the 155 and 163 and the tracks on these new Axys. I'm planning on snowchecking this year and would love to hear as much feedback as possible!!

What are you guys wanting to hear? The differences are very small, no one is going to have a break through answer, unless theyre full of it. Any advantage or disadvantage Isn't night/day

Maybe?

There's quite a difference between the stock and 3" pro though...?

I haven't ridden with any 2.6's yet.

The 2.4 on the pro was a completly different track then the camo 3" so it was a pretty noticable difference. The Axys 2.6 and 3.0 however have similar if not identical profiles so the .4 difference is not going to be as noticable.

Would not trade my 155 2.6 for my old 163 2.4. Not a chance. The new engine spins that 155 plenty fast to get around in the deep snow.

So far from what I've found is the 155 2.6" gets 65mph track speed climbing holding 8350 rmp and the 163 3" gets 55mph track speed climbing holding 8250 rpm got make a few adjustments to my 163 to Rev a bit more

I don't find the difference in actual performance/capability all that different on stock vs 3" pro, and I've ridden quite a few. The biggest difference between those 2 is the feel IMO, because they are 2 totally different tracks. The 2.6 and 3" are essentially the same track, just longer lugs...performance will be very close and more rider dependant than sled at that point.

Dont have a comparison, but my 2.6 155 seems to bite hard and go. Love it so far. I have noticed, however, that it sounds like an 18 wheeler with chains on going down the highway (kinda loud). I am hoping it is just new and tight, and the sled is so quiet it makes it seem louder. Anybody else noticed their track is loud? I haven't rode with any other axys yet..

Good first post. I'd like to hear from a few others about track speed. This seems a little on the high side from what I know about stock sleds & track speed over the last, well, ever. Not saying you're wrong as I have no experience with the Axys.

We did quite a few comparisons yesterday between a 2.6 163 and a 3.0 163. Only difference other than track was that the 2.6 sled had Carls shocks, the 3.0 was stock. The owners swapped back and forth several times, the only thing we could tell was that the 3.0 tended to ride more nose up in the deep, trenching a tiny bit more. Virtually identical in performance. The riders basically agreed that if they were blindfolded when getting on the sled, they would not be able to tell which was which. Maybe dude will chime in, he was one of the owners.
Doesn't the 2.6 have the dual hardness track, while the 3.0 does not? Or do they both have it?

I think he meant km/hr... Which would make sense.
