3" snowbike track

What did you use to cut the track ? Sawzall ?

Yes. I went through a lot of blades. Make sure its totally straight llike how I had it Heavy track but on spring snow the hard lugs grabbed like cats claws on carpet.

Ill do my 3" 163 track on my sled once I replace it.

It's pretty easy I flip them inside out and run through a table saw which takes about 10 minutes total, or use a regular skilsaw which takes me about 30 minutes. Using the skilsaw you do t even need a guide just freehand it

If shortening cut the track in apart first and table saw is a 5 min job at most

See the other thread

I bought another one of these tracks last night so I'll have a spare. It's in better shape than this one so I'll likely use it and keep this as a spare or let a bud try it

I believe Yeti has had the 3" track for years. Its just too bad no one will mfg one ! Its very expensive to get a mold made at almost a million dollars !

Another thought about a splice.

Flexco does have a splice that is a hinge type. It's rated for something like a 4-6" pulley. I want to say it's a flexco 550. Ill have to double check to be positive. I'm not sure of the dimensions but it would possibly fit between the drive windows. If it would fit it would be one stout s o b of a splice for a track.

Man you snow bike think outside the box. I kinda like the screw it if they don't make it I'll build it mentality. I never thought I'd be adapting belt splice techniques from grain elevators to tracks.

Man it's turning into a track dealership in here

Someone's got to do it since all the manufacturers are too dumb. Must think we're riding hard pack all the time. Just got home from a rip this morning and it was as good as it gets. Can't believe it's April 29. About 40 inches in the last few days. Went up super early this morning to get it while it was still blower. Going to heat up today and tomorrow. I guess then my 2.5 inch track will work better.

Is the snow tech adrenaline the only kit that will fit a 3 inch? Does the CMX have enough room? I hope timber sled had the forethought to build a little space in the arow.

The snowtech fits a 3" with just a driver change, will fit a 3.2" with a tiny bit of work and driver change. THAT would be sweet but I'm not buying a brand new CE 3.2 track for $900 to cut up

Where would a 3" hit on a timberled? My kits not mounted right now but looks like there's room above the drivers to the frame, just need to drop the upper rear wheels down?

is his project on a forum? would love to see how a short sled with a 3" would do always thought it would be a incredibly fun ride
So i saw a blurb on a 3" x 120 track posted by dynamo joe.

I emailed him and asked how he got one.

He sent me some pictures and a link to the company who spliced the track for him.

The guy who did specializes in conveyor belts and his name is Garnet.

While I realize the clips will eventually ruin the drivers it seems that the performance of the 3" track or the new 3.2" would be a fair trade. :)

The yeti will fit a 3" if you contour the lugs like the stock track. I think I'd taper it to 2" at the sides still and it would be even more convex and possibly even handle better on trail

The reason the mfg dont have a 3" is because the mold alone is just under a million dollars. Thats a lot of coin. Yeti has been testing the 3" for quite some time. I know Jaimie personally has 15 days over the last couple of months on his big bore bike alone. They have had these tracks for a couple years.

Yeti will be offering 13 profesionally built 3" challenger tracks next week for sale. They will have them made for 130,129,137 length in 10.5 and 12.5 widths. Im sure they will go fast.

So they have been paying just under a million for each one of thier tracks up to this point?
4 varieties of maxtrak 1
3-4 varieties of maxtrak 2

If that's the case then why in the HE double hockey sticks have they not pulled thier head out and built a 3" instead?
What a huge waste of R&D.
