So i saw a blurb on a 3" x 120 track posted by dynamo joe.

I emailed him and asked how he got one.

He sent me some pictures and a link to the company who spliced the track for him.

The guy who did specializes in conveyor belts and his name is Garnet.

While I realize the clips will eventually ruin the drivers it seems that the performance of the 3" track or the new 3.2" would be a fair trade. :)

Bust out the angle grinder. :)
If someone had a dedicated snowbike with a linkage style frame, would cutting the linkage bracket off give enough room?

That track is still 15" wide? What snow bike runs a 15" wide track? None that I know of, very curious. Things that make you go Hummm.

I have a 3" doo T3 track laying here and my 6 tooth 3" pitch drivers are laying next to it.

Track will be cut to size (129x12.5") next week and start reassembly. I am not going the route of steel splice I decided, will just be removing a little rubber and overlapping the track and bolting together with snowmobile studs. Has been done this way for 20+ years with no problems.

using the Snowtech MX Adrenaline kit with just a tiny bit of machining I can bolt it right together. Will probably take a 1/4" chain notch or so though.

Supposedly there is a 3" bike track in prototype beta testing phase right now. Next 2018 release we see should have details. I am waiting to see what I can buy so I don't have to source and build a track.

When they do come out good luck finding one, there is gonna be a months long wait list for a $700 track I bet! Supply and demand I would charge out the wazoo for it. I got this track for nothing and once its all done all I have to do is swap the track in a couple hours

Im guessing it will cost 1200+. Let us know how it works out! 129 x 3 x 11 would be awesome I think

for reference there were a whole slew of different tracks made all the way up to 200" over the years. Here is the easiest way to shorten a track and what I will do, this is a 189" made out of Polaris 159" tracks. They made at least 7 of these but ive heard of 11. On everything from a stock 800 summit to a 230hp turbo cat 1000 and never had any issues, damage, or any problem whatsoever. They aren't even noticeable with the splice

I made a 129 a couple years ago out of a skidoo flex edge 2.5. I overlapped and bolted it together. There was a little vibration but not terrible. Is the t3 3 inch track a similar design to the to the flexed? I thought that paddle layout worked excellent once cut narrower. It still leaves substantial paddles on edge.

yeah the T3 track is just a 3" challenger essentially. The Yeti track I have, the lug design is one of the worst I have ever seen on a paddle track. The close spaced side paddles and 2 empty bars between center paddles is just DUMB, it doesn't work. The challenger staggered paddle and the new 2018 timbersled track are the correct setup and is why they work so well compared to Yeti track

I agree, side padlles are not strong enough and flex too much, and all the space between center lugs is only good in blower pow. I think it's alot like tire selection on a dirt bike, one design doesn't work optimally in all conditions. I am tempted to put my old home-brewed track on my Yeti for spring conditions.

Here's something interesting. Total area of paddles on track
Yeti 129x2.5 (it doesn't actually measure out to 2.5 but 2.4 the one I have here anyway) contoured track
Center paddles 15x5"x2.5"=187 sq in
Middle paddle 30x3"x2.25" average height =202 sq in
Outer paddle 30x2.5"x2.2" average height =165 sq in

Total 554 sq in

T3 129x3x12.5 straight cut

Center paddle 21x5.5"x3" = 346 sq in
Outer paddle 42x 3.15"x3" =397 sq in

Total 743 sq in

189sq in difference, equal to all the center paddles on the yeti track.
My kit has about 36" on the ground on concrete, so 28% of the track.
Yeti=155 sq in of paddle on ground
T3 = 208 sq in on ground

Just a little info to get your noggin joggin
