3-D Sled films?

Just curious who is going to be the first one to film?

I would think it would make hill and chute climbing way more realistic! And give a better idea of how insanely steep the terrain these guys are climbing really is.

I am not a movie expert, but something tells me the equipment and production values on something like that would be in the stratosphere. I will never say never but it could be wishful thinking. Hope I am wrong.

a sponsor of mine, Go Pro Helmet cam's is in development for a 3D helmet cam utilizing 2 HD GoPros I believe. So this isn't that out of reach. All the other cameras and still pulling of the angles and quality of the footage will be the feet. I think its doable. I respect seeing it in HD much less 3D but it would be cool!

The filming part is actually quite easy, you can mount two camera's side by side and this will work for 3D, just need the editing software and hardware to do it. I have thought about it, but the only problem is....how many of you have 3D TV's and 3D Blu Ray players? Is it worth the effort to only sell 20 3D movies next year or would you sell 200,000 as you might be the only motorsport video on 3D? The thought of 3D chute climbing is really cool!
I'm not sure if this 3D thing is a fad and will stick around or go by the way of Beta. Only time will tell. If it does take off you can bet Mountain Mod Mania will be onboard!

Happy New Year!

The other issue would be getting the footage close enough to the camera to make the sleds jump off the screen. There are a couple of prosumer cameras that will do it, but the action has to be quite close the cameras. Pretty tough to get good close up action of sledding.

Like Doc said, the sales probably wouldn't be enough to justify buying two cameras and the software to make it happen until more people own the technology to buy the film.

As soon as there is a market for it, someone will do it.
