3,000 Mile Club

Oh Geo, you continue to compare your 2012 experience to the 2014 sled, it has changed you know, yes I take care of my machine but I have only cleaned the clutch's once or twice since the cleaning them when new, I did clean them when I put on the new belt, I also take my new sleds apart and check everything, just the mechanic in me and I do that to all my toys, I suspect you do the same, I dont trust the factory flunky to do it right every time.

I usually end up working on everybody else's junk because I have the tools, I suspect you are the same way.

ALL the new sleds are great and will take you anywhere you want to go, but I will continue to carry around a good tow strap because stuff breaks:face-icon-small-fro

1508 hard miles on my 2014 Pro. Stock except for 3" track and clutching (and Muff Pot ;)).

Planning on fresh top end when season finally ends, but plan on riding for another month or so...

Since that Ouray guy drug me into this Polaris thread............ :face-icon-small-coo

Yes my Cat got towed out about 8 miles by a Pro, but this same 2014 Cat has towed out 5 other sleds this year, 2 Doos and 2 Poos and 1 Cat, 4 of those on the same belt :face-icon-small-hap

950 miles on first belt(now my spare) and about 250 miles on my second belt

anyway, it was a broken wire on Stator and was quickly fixed, I even bought Ouray guy a new Cat belt so he wouldn't whine about wear and tear on his fragile belt :face-icon-small-sad

its all good, been riding Cat since 1999, all sleds break down but it was my first time getting towed and it was very depressing, I now understand how a Pro rider feels!!

The only tore up part on my 2014 M8 is the rear bumper from towing or pulling out stuck sleds. Only belt I lost was when girlfriend tried to move my sled with the parking brake on....lol...damn that made the sled stink all that burning belt.

If you try to compare a 2012 or even a 2013 Cat to a 2014 you might as well compare a 2000 RMK to your 2014 Pro.

I keep hearing that like everything is OK (maybe it's because only the super faithful are left riding them. lol) but the time I spent around them this year it's the same old things. The 14 I rode this year I had the belt/clutches so hot in 20mins it had dropped about 400rpm, gave it back to its owner then because the 12 flashbacks started. Still have horrible fitting panels, 500 mile clutch life, ridiculous steering slop, chain problems, jackshafts breaking, weak tunnel and just an overall cheap loose shaking feeling... No doubt it's all wrapped around a good motor.

My '14 Proclimb has gone through 2 primary's, one which bent the crank so it got replaced with a new motor. 2 secondary's, broken jackshaft. Partial broken chain and worn aluminum bottom gear, so went with Hyvo setup. Bent 2 sets of handlebars, bent rails on a small off camber jump landing in pow, blown 3 belts. 1150 miles.

My 12 pro RMK ate 2 engines (one '13 motor) in 1100 miles before I sold it this year, but didn't blow drivetrain components either. Only 2 belts.

Yes the '14 proclimb is a totally different sled than the '12 POS they brought out. I hated the '12 PC with a passion and sold mine after only 450 mi

I honestly think they all suck if you ride them hard. Even being a mechanic and working on them every ride does not save them from failure. Pick your poison.

2011 Assault

Who's in?

3,000 or more miles on a Pro 800 without a major failure. Any and all work, mods, upgrades, witch-doctoring OK.

12' Pro 3100+ miles and nary a burble since new. Long-rodded at 2,300 (PAR kit). Diligently maintained since new.

2011 Assault. New belt and Hyfax last year. That's it 3800+ miles. The secret is to never ride it below 8200rpm!
