25 Boost - Belt Slip Issues

I’m running into an issue on my boost - may be my own ignorance but it killed the ride today. The last two rides (counting today) my sled has had major belt sliping issues. Both times at Rabbit Ears with steamboats fine grain snow dumping.

Basically sled starts day fine, then 30 minutes or so in, the belt will randomly start to slip. could be WOT on a hill climb nearly sending me over the bars, or just cruising at 6k rpm. First day after it happened a few times i swapped the belt to the spare and went on my merry way. Spare slipped once immediately then was fine. I stopped by Alpine on the way home and asked if this was an issue on these, and they said they’ve had no such problem. Basically said run it, you’ve got warranty

Fast forward to today, first 30 minutes sled ran like a beast, then the belt started slipping progressively more throughout the day. Some heavy throttle runs were fine, other long hold mid throttle applications it slipped. Eventually it got bad enough that even riding lightly it was slipping annd engagement felt like ****. i apologized to my riding buddy and hit the truck. Sucks to drive 5 hours to ride for 3.

Clutching is stock aside from TRS alignment. I moved the secondary in toward the stock alignment this ride and no difference was made. My thought is it is from the massive amount of snow melting to that area on the boost without the intake on the clutch side, but again two dealers i spoke two said that’s not an issue.

Any ideas? Primary was cleaned before this ride.

First off how are you getting that much snow under your hood! Second I would guess the roller bearings is bad? I would tear your primary apart. Look for any cracks

I had some issues (less extreme than what you report) with fine dry snow getting into the clutches a couple years ago. I put on the skinz front vent covers and it helped.

Agreeing with others that's so much more snow than should ever be under your hood unless you were riding with your side panel off.

Snow may likely be entering through the area around your after market bumper. The stock one is oval and it looks like you current bumper is round. I had the same issue and took some tape and rtv and sealed it from the inside on an axys I had.

Nope. all panels on. Fitment seems like my 22 khaos - had same bumper no problems. If it was the bumper i wouldn’t expect the snow build up way up at the top where it is

I’m sure some comes from the front as another member posted but seeing where it’s piled up that’s right below the vents at the top of the side panel and the vents by the headlight. those are wide open and i ride blower all day - seems like an easy way to build up snow there no? I will take a vid tomorrow of the panel fitment

Mine did that before frogskinz all vents and stuff a hoodie in the spot where the N/A intake is.

Deep snow fine grain it's the only fix.

It becomes almost unridable.

thank you - glad im not the only one. i dont understand how the kremmling dealer (vohk) isn’t catching that. ill get those on order

feel bad for the sled, had a couple where my hip slammed the throttle wide open no load as i was pitched over the front. glad i got the extended warranty i guess.

That’s not normal at all.

I see the exact same thing on the clutches we get in to lighten and balance....pretty much all the P22 have belt marks, black slipping marks....Notice on 3rd picture the belt is not going to the top of the clutch, if you take apart the secondary it is the same from the bottom to the belt wear....lots of track speed loss...many aftermarket clutching make weights wit more TIP weight to make the clutch squeeze harder, the stock weight have very little tip weight because of the limited room with the roller bearing..Also the P22 weights are shorter than P85 weights, thus less tip weight. I do se some (not many) that are full shift, but most have black belt wear on the sheaves...when the belt slips it creates heat, thus it only get worst the hotter it gets...Maybe a gearing change could help?

Your correct but a shovel load of snow under the hood? That’s not normal.

I’d like to believe it’s not normal also but cold temps, fine snow, and wide open hood vents had that **** blowing everywhere. Here’s a video i took today. LMK if you see something I don’t.

I’ve ridden hood deep pow at rabbit ears in the cold and have experienced the exact same thing. That dry snow works its way into everything. The open vents on the left side is most likely your culprit. I’d get some frog skin or even some tape on those deep cold days.

There's also about a 2" long spot where the side panel and the belly pan don't seal up perfect. I had the same issues with fine dry snow. needed silicone about a 1/4" square and 2" long piece of plastic to the belly pan to seal it up. the spot is somewhere above the shock. It's been 3 years since I fixed mine and my sleds not at the house to take a picture for you.
