Well the injectors decided they didn’t want to play anymore. Really sucks. 303 miles.
Right now, I’m trying to get the warranty transferred to me which I thought just kept with the sled not the owner. I bought the sled in December was 77 miles. I also found out Polaris won’t warranty if you have a can, of course I didn’t know this and the previous owner didn’t have the stock one.
Pretty bummer day.
Alpine motor sports/Vohk in Kremmling is my dealer/ service go to. They are a couple weeks out to even look at it. I really don’t trust any other dealerships on the western slope of Colorado.

I hope everyone had a better riding Saturday than me! I know sleds can be temperamental and can be a PIA. Just wish I wasn’t driving 6 hours round trip to drop the sled off probably for a month during peak season.

Ignorant question but can’t you just replace the injectors? i just did the throttle cable and after pulling the fuel rail they were right there. seems like a days worth of work.

you should have just kept the sled with the prior owner. also per magnuson moss no way can polaris decline injector failure on a can

Not ignorant at all. Was not hoping to be out of pocket with getting it fixed because of having a warranty but that’s a way to get done quickly.

Good to hear about the can.

If you’re sure it just needs new injectors and you don’t want to put them in any dealer should be okay to do it it’s really simple.

Yeah i wouldn’t wait on alpine tbh. Riding time is finite. No sense waiting on them for a month

Alpine got me in quick.. I did not miss any riding which I was thankful for.
Same injector went down again today, this time it lasted 130 ish miles. Pretty frustrated and bummed. It’s a bummer that Polaris has not done an update on the injectors or designed new ones. So I will do the 5 hour round trip again and see how long the injectors last.

and they are refusing to warranty injectors due to a can? or did alpine get it covered?

Is this a problem on all 9r or just certain years. ?
Alpine in Kremmling said I was the first 9R they had seen with bad injectors and then happened again. I pray it’s just some dumb luck with ****ty injectors but who knows. It definitely adds a challenge getting out of the back country. I was 30 miles from the truck.

That’s brutal from the dealer. I bought from a private sale, sled not from my dealer. Motor grenaded at 600 miles. New long block from my dealer no questions asked, same deal with aftermarket can and no stocker.

Maybe check with another (better) dealer.

All terrain and Karl Malone’s were definitely against helping me. Alpine/Vohk 1000% wanted to help me. Doing the round trip to Kremmling tomorrow.

We have thousands of miles on our 9R’s trouble free.
I’m super picky about good fuel, always have been and seem to have less problems than others. Been on Polaris sleds(wife and I) since 2010 and never fouled a plug on any of our sleds.
Either start your sled monthly in the summer or treat your fuel with stabil when storing.

What did you find out?
It was the PBR but just saying I hope that’s the fix for long term and the issue is solved! Praying to ride Saturday if the storm hits in the Aspen area. If it doesn’t hit here heading to Rabbit Ears

That’s good to hear ! Praying I can get thousands of miles out of mine after these fixes. I run the same fuel an all my buddies do but I just have crap luck. I have been running br8es plugs and haven’t had any issues nor did I before but the sled only has 470 ish miles. I got the sled in December with 77 miles in it.
This will be my first winter storing it and I usually use Startron fuel treatment for all the other toys and was going to use it on the 9R.

The saga continues….
To be honest, I don’t believe track running the sled off a forklift or whatever they do was worth a heck. Alpine motorsports said that they had it up in the air and revved heck out of it. No codes.
I wait another week for the snow to get good but have started the sled multiple times. I book an awesome cabin on the grand Mesa in Colorado. I don’t use my ramp and just drag the slide out of the back of the truck. I started it, let it run and boom check Engine light comes on with the injectors again. The sled didn’t even run more than a minute after brand new injectors a ride ago and now a new PBR. Obviously frustration is going through the roof with the amount of money I have spent on travel for the warranty, the amount of money I have lost via work because I have to take it off for warranty work, flat out losing confidence going into the back country, the amount of money I have lost via snowmobile cabins/gas to get there and now I am in a great snowmobile spot and it won’t even get back into the truck.
So weekender powersports in Hotchkiss Colorado (Dennis Durmas) was super awesome on Friday afternoon and said to haul butt to their shop. They had injectors in stock. I get the sled to the shop barely before 5 PM. I drive back up to the Mesa to stay in the cabin and to wake up early to go back down to Hotchkiss. I get back to the shop, he has already changed out the injectors and the fuel filters/cotton filters for the fuel tank. We fire it up in the shop, the check engine light for the injectors light up right away again. I am beyond bummed. The mechanic was so awesome and was like I can figure this out no matter what for you. He basically started going through every wire of the sled and found out underneath the handlebars. Two wires were rubbing against each other and basically shorting out the sled. The mechanic fixed up all the wires. I have been starting it over and over again after canceling the sled trip home in the driveway. Quite honestly, I think this guy found the fix.
I have owned the sled since December 12, between the clutch recall and dealing with all of this. I have about 30 hours of driving to the dealership. Missed six weeks of riding easily. 3 expensive sled trips wasted.

The cherry on the top for me was that Alpine motorsports told me to call Polaris customer service….. like what the **** are they gonna do for me? I’m going to whine and say how much time and money they have cost me because I got a turd and it took someone that had mechanical skills that actually wanted to investigate instead of just doing warranty bullshit.

Going out again tomorrow.. I don’t even know what to say anymore. Fingers crossed I don’t limp back to the truck. Lol

I hope everyone had a rad safe weekend on their sleds and I’m sorry to vent.
