2018 mototrax?

I was a dealer for mototrax ,had a demo day over 100 + demos, not one sale . hosted the crew got my snowmobile club to make a track devoted my time . I gave it my all .this year i decided not to be a dealer anymore emailed them called them never heard back .So i did my due diligence and packaged up there banner and the spare parts that were required as a dealer and on my dime sent them back and a spare fit kit . I was told that i should learn better business practice and shouldn't have taken it at my expense . so i will not get a refund for the parts . I was totally blown away by the kids response to me . I have been in business for 30+ years . I don't think mototrax will be around very long . Just my 2 cents . they can take there parts and shovem

I’m honestly surprised they even have a 2018 kit. I never thought they could survive the negative press from last year. In my crew it’s a running joke about mototrax and how to keep them running.

Any idea what happens to us that got 2016 kits that broke in half? How about that warrantee??

I ordered my free upgrade kit and cost me 10$ for shipping. And they forgot some of it lol.

ARO is sure nice, happy for the upgrade! First ride not a single tool came out.

Reading this thread, companies don't survive this kind of press. Its already too late for them to turn it around, they just haven't seen it yet.

All they had to do was upgrade last years kit and that would have went along ways at repairing their bad rep. From what I've seen of the "upgrades" they do not address all the issues the kits have. As far as I'm concerned the only upgrade that would work was the front yoke. All the other upgrades didn't really fix anything. I'll ride mine one more year and sell it for what I can. I've fixed their design flaws myself, upgraded to a Camso front ski assy, and should have a reliable kit. Don't know what it will be worth, but at least I can sell it to someone without feeling like I'm cheating them. :juggle:

P.S. I've changed enough parts that I removed their stickers. I'm not giving them credit for any of the fixes.

This reminds me of the last election. Based on the internet media I was so sure Clinton would win I didn't see any point in voting. It just turned out that everyone with means and a reason to post on the internet was liberal biased. I realize now not to use Google search for anything political because of the liberal bias. But anything technical it is a great way to search. The truth is that everyone here that has time and opportunity to post has been seriously burned by last year's mtx so it will seem pretty one sided. The problems with mototrax are real and the customer service is pretty bad so far. But the 18 updates that I've seen and tried work well so far. Still no blower pow to test in though.

The customer service for timbersled actually got worse for me when Polaris took over and they had many of the same first year glitches and updates as mtx. It took them 6 years to have a working brake and chain adjuster. They had to get rid of the flex joint just like mtx. My timbersleds were always screwed up and i never said a peep about it. Nobody here ever even heard of the problem the 15 ts models had with the old style rear arm and new front flex arm causing the rails to crack by the track adjuster bolts. I didn't even own a 16 model but they ruined a few of my ride days having to tow my buddies out with broken chains. They are still in business and better than ever.

Anyone have advice on how to get the upper idler bolts out on the 17 model? I can get them to come part way out then the inside shaft starts to turn and they won't come out any further.

An impact wrench works great for stuff like that.

I've had to use vice grips on the center shaft to get those bolts out. I wrapped the shaft in a rag to try and keep from scratching all of the powder coating off.

For what it's worth, the 18's have a solid shaft instead of the three piece one we have on the 17's...

Sorry I thought I responded to this earlier. But they sent me a new heavier duty frame for my 16. They said they were sending them to everyone. Renewed my hope for a while. But, alas, still took a ton of work to make it somewhat reliable.

Thanks for the help getting the idler bolts out. Anyone know what MotoTrax is charging for the 18 solid shaft and if it's worth upgrading?

No, but I was worried about it. I have 2 of these TS 15' model kits, what do I need to research and double inspect? I can't be risking failures as it can ruin trips out west. :jaw:

They did not quote me a price on it, so I can't honestly say. I dealt with both Danny and Randy this fall on some other things, and they were extremely helpful. I had one of the prototype yoke assemblies, and they swapped it out for me at no cost for the new anodized one with a bushing inside. It would be worth calling and talking to Danny about it and see what they are willing to do.

Luckily The cracked TS rails won't ruin a trip. mine were cracked for quite some time before I bolted a plate over it. They crack right in front of the top bolt where the chain adjuster block bolts to the rail. My best guess is the rear arm is too stiff and blocks too much twisting so the rails have to twist and the side forces are too focused at that point.

My understanding is that Danny and Randy are no longer with the company.

I was at their office a few weeks ago (right after the Spokane snow show) and they were absolutely still there.

For what it is worth, nothing on my kit broke. I had the "slop" issue with the rear idler arm that caused derailment on one ride. By the next weekend I had the front yoke, spring, and bushing for the idler. Did not have another issue after that.
