anyone hear any talk on what timbersled has in the works for 2017? Got an email yesterday saying the end of the month. I would like to see belt drive and do away with the chain and a better break setup that actually works.

I imagine not much for changes, 17 will be a tideover year while they work with polaris to release a whole new setup in 18
For sure, 16 saw some major overhaul of almost everything besides the main frame, probaly just some details.

Honestly, after riding the 2016 kits with the proper updates (chain slider and new chains) they work awesome and ride so much betten then previous kits.

It would seem that the frame/design is getting maxed out for advancements(same frame geometry since 2011) so would be cool to see a fully revamped frame/mounting system in the future, but I really have no critiques besides just refining little stuff for this year.

Its timbersled, they will probably change the side case cover... again. Add new graphics and add more bump stops!...

Timbersled is earning the name timbers***

New for 2017, frame sliders come with all kits! haha
I wouldn't expect much, but we should hear it all within a week or so. They just redid the drive system, and my 2016 kit has been a really good performer.

I too would like to see a revamped subframe mounting system and things as well, but yeah year or so more. Unless huge changes my kit should last me a while. If I could get one that is lighter it might move me to change sooner, weight is key on the snow.

They are going to have 2 price levels of kits for 17. A economy model for 4g's and and what they have now for 6g's give or take. Less powder coating and bling on then cheaper kit. Other than that minor to no changes for 17 would be my guess!:face-icon-small-co:face-icon-small-win

I if that's true, that could really help break the cost barrier and grow the sport even more. Why not every other sport has several levels of cost and performance.

Not everybody needs the very best to have a good time.

Thats what the new kits coming out are doing. taking total innovation and brining the entry price down by nearly a ⅓

The new arctic cat bikes will be around 10,000 for the Track & Bike! along with a factory warranty!

2018 will be the big year of changes. Many of the items you all have been discussing here will released along with some significant weight reduction.... just a guess.

looking ahead

after sum riding and testing, the general opinion of the test riders was a TSS TS short track was as agile and had the best bump suspension of the two other non 3rd shock kits. The light weight Yeti wasn't the game changer expected or the ski.............good but, needs the 3rd shock. Belt drive, same old issue,l built sleds back when that was a new and great thing ? OK, but cost / vs weight savings vs maintenance , belt drive has been a good marketing ploy for some, but again not a game changer out in the snow.

The real next step is to go past chains and belts and get the bike drive wider and direct to the drive shaft, until then skip the belts please. Not happening in 17 I would say.

So, make'n cheaper kits as good as available today and letting more riders enjoy the sport, best idea yet.

do you really think there will be an Arctic Cat bike? that would be very cool! The only issue is they've driven nearly all the dealers out of business in WA. They are truly a disappointment to work with. It's shame. They make decent stuff.

What was that arctic at bike, a sherco? Why not use a real bike that a person can actually get parts for? Besides the fact that you won't be able to use the bike in the summer. I think one of the huge pluses of a snowbike not being a purpose built dedicated machine is the fact that they are a true 4 season machine.

All season machine here!
First photo u can see the date August 1st

Second photo is September 30th

I am sure i don't need to show a pic from the other 10 months?
But if u really need it, i can.

Cat will have good parts supply for the bike. Why do you think you would not be able to convert this snowbike to a dirt bike?

The US importer for Sherco off road bikes is in Tennessee and he stocks a lot of parts. Should be no problem to get parts.

I would assume Arctic Cat would offer a kit to convert it to a dirt bike. By the time you add up the wheels, swingarm, brakes, and other misc stuff you would need it would probably cost $2-3k....

Seems like a lot of folks have the intent (perhaps as justification or perhaps as wishful thinking) to use a bike as both a bike and snowbike, but after a couple seasons snowbiking, that goes out the window. Ha. Lots of reasons for that. One is it's a pain to convert. Another is too much season overlap. But more than that, if you really go beyond the basic mods, you start to change things that are harder to change back and forth and are more specialized. That and folks often find that the bike that is best for snowbiking is nothing like the bike that is their preference for summer riding and that leads to compromise. Definitely doable, but why settle for a transmission, engine, power delivery or tune that is not exactly what you want to use during each season?

My next snowbike will never get converted back and forth just like my last one was not. I want factory thermostats and tunnel cooler, airbox setup, layout updates, etc. Buying a factory snowbike will reduce the cost of having swingarms, wheels, brakes, etc. laying around never being used. Good idea to make them an option if possible, as it may be with the sherco/artic cat snowbike, but honestly, I'm really hoping for a significantly different, ground up snowbike so that it won't be able to be used in the summer. Meaning, it is refined and designed specifically enough for the snow, so it is the best it can be in the snow, with no compromises made to account for it being used as a bike in the summertime.

That is what i want for 2017. Will it happen by then? No. But maybe 2018 or 2019. Not sure what I'll do between now and then. The new kits are all outstanding. By next winter, I'll have to decide if I go with one more "in between" snowbike kit or, dare i say it, sit out a season or two waiting for a factory snowbike and only sled riding. I know the smart financial choice. I know the fun choice...the two are not in sync. Ha.

Wouldn't be the first time they've been late on that...

It's not 9pm mst yet, so not late. Ha. Timbersled reveal schedule runs on Polaris time moving forward. Info is in everyone's hands but they can't reveal until tonight. I imagine the Timbersled website pages are built and just awaiting the time before they go live.
