2017 Mototrax conclusion after riding

So what are people thinking after riding?

1. Are heavy fork Springs needed

2. How is new ski working

3. How is the 2" track

4. Any better than other kits or worse

Sorry setting in Montana waiting for snow looking at new mototrax kits seeing others riding at least I can have an idea what I spent my money on

129 Moto Trax

I only have two 8-10 mile rides in 3 feet of dry bottomless powder and did not have any other snowbikes around to compare with. I have had 2 Timbersleds since 2011 and this Moto Trax rides more like a dirtbike for sure suspension is very nice front forks do not feel like they need bigger springs at all ski seems to work fine so far. I will have it out with some other snowbikes this weekend and I will give a better ride report after. But so far I am liking the Moto Trax 129

hows that set up working for you ??

I have one ride, about three hours, on my 2017 mototrax enduro 120. The kit is on a 2017 yz450fx. 12-18 inches of fairly dense snow. The two inch track appears to hook up real well. I had the track ratchet, first time on a sbike, on hard acceleration in 4th or 5th gear so the track did not spin easily. It does feel a bit more like a bike, leaning was a bit easier than the TS. Again not a thorough test but, during this ride, I felt the ski on the MT was not as plated and stable as the timbersled ski. It was easy to turn but, a little twitcher than the TS. More testing necessary..

Mototrax: not the best start

Well guys, I just got back from my long awaited first trip to the mountains on my 2017 mountain 137" mototrax kit. I'm just going to say that I had a lot of issues. I believe in this kit and I think the issues can be dealt with but I strongly urge anyone that is about to buy one or is about to take one on a big trip to check the fallowing: remove all tunnel and suspension bolts and reinstall with lock tight. The upper idler bogeys should not be running on the metal part of the track. They should be aligned with the rear bogeys. If the bushing at the bottom of the moto-link is deformed at all or looks like it is not perfect, put it in place. If that bushing comes out, the track will come off every time you lean the bike in a corner.
Call the guys at mototrax and ask if there are any other things that need to be done based on the feedback they are getting. I know they are dealing with these issues. :face-icon-small-dis

There was an email sent to all owners about checking the bolts, there was an update sent out with new idler shafts to move idler wheels over, why would you ride with a part of the suspension missing?

One ride on mine, worked great, nothing fell off, goes through deep just fine, the track did stretch and I had to adjust to stop the ratcheting, took 3 minutes on trail to adjust:)

Same here on my MX129. Deep bottomless powder and cannot give a fair review yet. My report so far is same as Dave. I was with a Yeti, and 5 other TS from 17 to 15 models. Not the right conditions to compare or review. So far I am impressed with the company and the quality of the kit however they have some growing pains but I am ok with as long as they keep taking my calls usually 1 ring and treat me like they appreciate my purchase and listen to my commits because I am a customer. MX129 is bolted up to a 15FC450.

Only one day also on my enduro 120 and also had ratcheting right off. Quick adjust and been fine since.
I'll copy the notion that bolts needed tightened. Some were not even installed all the way, and others had a substance on them that looked a lot like grease where I was expecting lock tite.
My brake disc comes very got pretty beat up too. Might need to make a bash guard for the bash guard. Otherwise pretty great quality and the track did fine in powder that I couldn't walk in. It was waist deep. I was able to pull 4th gear in the deep and it was amazingly fun. Trail manners were making my knuckles white and my arms pumped but that may have been my lack of experience.
One comment I'd like to make is that my bike ended up several inches lower after kit installed which could be seen as a major benefit. It might be due to the rising rate suspension having some race sag.
Initial feel of my gearing is very positive. I can use second for taking off and getting around, and I got up into 5th on the trail a little. First was low and will be useful in spring I'm guessing. My bike has an interesting trans setup with close ratios 1-4 and wide ratio 5-6 so YMMV but I don't think I'll be needing sprocket changes at this point.

Well, I'm sure i qualify as an owner. But unfortunately, I did not receive an email regarding this issue about the bogeys. Also, I don't understand your question. When my track came off for the second time, I was confused because i retightened the track after the first time it fell off thinking the track had just stretched like all tracks do during break-in. I took a closer look and noticed that that bushing on the Moto-link had come out. at that point I think most people would have done what I did and limped it back to the truck. Trip over.
Up until that point, I was and am still pumped on the performance of this kit. I just hope that the issues that I had are easily corrected. Zak and the others have been Rockstars when it comes to service and support. that is why I believe in this kit wholeheartedly. can't wait to get these issues fixed and get out there again!!

More on mototrax. As with Jnorth, my kit came with the upper idlers lined up in the track window. Fortunately, I noticed it on first inspection before riding and mototrax got the proper spacers to my dealer quickly. They are busy!!

I have about four hours on my enduro 120. Had an opportunity to try a timbersled ski today. Warm 37 degrees making packey snow conditions. I have a slight preference for the timbersled ski. It seems less twitchy and less likely to follow a rut or other ski track. A true bike guy might like the Mtrax ski as it might provide a more nimble feel.

So far happy with the kit. I think it feels slightly more nimble than my 16 timbersled kit. No deep snow yet.

I also appreciate the mototrax approach to customer service.

Ok, but wth is going on with the sled in your first pic?

Why would you switch from Yeti to Mototrax? After reading some reviews I was under the impression that Yeti is one of the top kits out there and Mototrax is a still growing product, was there something that you did not like about yeti?

Not my Yeti and they are top notch for sure but I can almost buy two Mototrax for the price of the Yeti.

Yeti has plenty of problems as well. They just aren't resolved at the rate of a new vendor like motorax. Still a great product but I'm starting to worry there are some fundamental design issues

Which has a fundamental problem Yeti or Mototrax?

I have the 129 MotoTrax. At first the ski was way twitchy but I lengthened the rod and gave it some more ski pressure and it handled a lot better. I do fee like the kit could use a bigger lug. It also seems to trench more then the other kits I run with. I do like the handling of the kit. It does well with the bumps. If I can get more traction and get it not to trench them it's the best kit out there. I have not had issues with the bolts and the customer service is stellar.
Big props for MotoTrax I hit a rock head on and their kit broke away and I did not take out my forks. I know if it was the other manufacturers the forks would be toast.
