2016 axys RMK... beginning to see some details.

Well we will know on Friday. Snowest just posted on Facebook about a sneak peak to the 16' line up at the party...

The question I still have is, are we getting one sled or two?? The rumor mill still is flying that there is a technical riding specific sled, almost like a snow bike that is coming too....

Then the question would be, which one do you buy? I would have a hard time choosing between those two, depending on the hill climbability of the snowbike type sled.

Nobody's mentioning anything about improved engine reliability. More power, less weight, better traction.....awesome BUT unless someone can convince me that some significant changes are going into the motor besides a lighter crank I guess I'll probably ride a heavy ol doo......maybe

Yeah It will be done at that snolariswest event I believe in West Yellowstone, they are calling it an anniversary, they must of meant reunion.

If I was looking for a way to talk to the engineers about my Polaris snowmobile I would definitely try and go to this Polaris event in West Yellowstone this weekend. If your a paying customer go speak your mind, the good and the not so good.

I'm sure it has the new 800 HO motor in it that was released in the axys this year. So far the reliability on them has been good, given the mountain segment will be harder on motors and it's hard to say for sure at this point. But the one engine failure that i have heard about was due to a foreign object entering the engine.

Not really sure what anyone could tell you about reliability for a sled that isn't out yet. Polaris will say it's great, but they also won't fully acknowledge the past reliability shortcomings of the CFI....so that won't mean much.

Going from what we know.....reliability has been improving every year, so one assumes/hopes this trend will continue. The HO motor seems to be doing well in the Axys, so one assumes/hopes this transfers over.

Also, despite the usual Snowest banter (often from riders of other brands), there are obviously enough people who are satisfied with their Pro's to an extent that they are excited about the next rendition. This forum make it seem that EVERYONE blows a Pol 800, and EVERYONE bends up their Ski Doo bulkhead, and EVERYONE continuously blows belts on their M8.....but in real life, it's just a small percentage. And of the percentage that has problems....a large portion are those who beat the living tar out of it with 0 mechanical sympathy.

Best pic of track I could get.

Looks to be a 3" paddle....2.8 or 2.9 is how Polaris will call it. It has the same lug pattern as the current track. its 15 wide, the "rail" you are seeing is snow buildup on the rail. It was warm the day they made this video up on Daniels pass in Utah 3 weeks ago.

Its awesome because The Chris Burandt said so....jeesh.

I really hope that new 800 holds up. I for one though have little faith as of now. I know Jaynelson believes the issues of old are gone and I agree with some of it. Yes, the skirt issues seem to be none existent in the 13-15 sleds. However, the piston and ring issue still exists. I have to say I only have a 13 so maybe the 14 and 15 are better but I continue to see about 1100 to 1500 miles out of these motors before the pistons knife and rings flake/chip. Seriously people, if you think company's build "fix" kits for the CFI 800 for no reason, you are sorely mistaken.

Again, not trying to rain on the Polaris Parade. I really, REALLY, hope they can get this motor to last more than 1 to 2 season before needing a refresh. The lowest HP sled has the highest rebuild rate. That makes no sense. Everything else about the Pro RMK and now the Axys RMK rock!!! It's gonna be super hard for the other brands to keep up if they stand pat.

This is just my opinion, and like a$$holes, everyone has one and they all stink. But hey, this is a SnoWest forum so they stink but as fat bastard said in Austin Powers, "Everyone likes the smell of their own brand." Literally :-)

I'm not sure I believe that. They've gotten "better" each year, but I'm sure some people will still have problems. It's definitely the most sensitive motor. They're closing the reliability gap with Doo, but not there yet. Cats reliability is no better than Pol IMHO....motor yes, tow-out rate in general - no.

All I believe is that they have enough satisfied customers, and potential customers....that a new, lighter, more powerful, more capable sled, that's built based on market/rider feedback....will sell very well. Provided that's what they've got coming....which we are speculating on at this point.

I just wish they would source their electrical components to someone other than the cheapest bidder in china. How many people have had to redo TPS adjustments, replace injectors, harnesses etc?

I would be surprised if you see this change. For them it is more reliable to build the tolerances loose on the pistons than build them tight and deal with cold seize or under oil issues when building for the masses and having to meet emissions. Cat and Doo have it figured out so I dunno why Polaris cant but they never have and I don't see that changing.

I think the motor failure rates are getting low enough now that I would be surprised to see them make huge changes all around. The lighter crank and new power valves is all I am expecting motor wise.

So you think they're going to stick the old 800 in the new axys chassis?

I hope people don't think so. :noidea::der::becky:
They have clearly stated that the 800ho doesn't fit into the Pro chassis.
Hence the AXYS chassis.

I thought it was pretty clear that the new 800HO motor that came out last year in the Axys short tracks was the same motor going into the new RMK.

Seeing how the Axys motor has added cooling around exhaust ports I hope that the tolerances is closed up a little. If they are it should add to the reliability.
