2014 - SkiDoo Summit or RMK Pro for a noob?

I thought Ski Doo was one year sled and one additional motor standard. You have to pay or use Snow Check to get the 3 years. I'm not sure what Polaris standard warranty is but it's the same thing. You pay for additional warranty on both sleds. For those that think you get the warranty for free on the snow check, just ask your dealer what the cost is w/o the warranty and you will see that you pay for it.

Correct, they asked me if I wanted it and then told me the price with or without it. Hardly enough to worry about it so I went with.

Went Ski Doo

Well I went ski doo.

Put a down payment on a Black Summit SP 800 163" Just waiting for it to arrive.

Oh the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty is still good on Summits if you buy before Nov 30th. Part of their Yellow Tag Event (http://www.ski-doo.com/showroom/promotions/offer).

So I got 3 years part of the deal doesn't cost extra.

Ordered some accessories too. ( Belt, Skid Plate, Cover, 12v adapter... )

Let it snow!

You won't regret it!

Wicked man! You'll love it. I fought the Doo's for years. And I was just so pissed off that we pay so much for them in Canada where they're built. But I finally broke down once the XM came out and I couldn't be happier.

Congrats, hope to see you on the mtn! :face-icon-small-hap

Before you plunk down a wad of cash, ride each one of them. They are both great machines and you can't go wrong either way. My son rides a Pro and I have an XM. To me the XM just feels better and he thinks the same of his Pro. Ride em both, buy the one you like the best and have a great time this winter. :face-icon-small-win

Every post after eyefish's is a waste of bandwidth. Best advice ever.

Spanked when its deep, i'll let y'all break trail this year! I will be in back poaching lines:face-icon-small-ton I'm planning on riding my new short track anyways so I expect nothing but higher highmarks then mine and nastier lines through the trees especially if your riding a machine with a track that could float a semi truck!:brokenheart::typing:

I think when a new guy asks what sled to buy the dumb answer is "ride the one you like". A new guy doesn't have the experience to pick the "best" sled for him based on a 1 hour or even a half day test ride. Like when some new shooter asks what gun to buy and he get's the "pick the one that feels best in your hand". What if the Hi Point feels best in his hand? Even for an experienced sledder just the difference in the steering from a Cat/Poo to a Doo takes more than one ride to actually give whatever you aren't used to a fair chance. Not to mention the dealer's importance, what your buddies ride etc.

This thread was helpful so thanks!

I made a pro/con list of what i liked and didn't like of each. and the Ski Do won by a lot ( mostly in the farkle department admittedly ) . There wasn't really to many cons to either that I could find. But there was many more things about the Doo I found as pro's or what I think might be pro's.

You are probably right I would probably not know the differance at all. Even on motorcycles, which I'm ok to decent at the only thing I notice when hopping on one bike to another for a lap or a bit of trail is "Man the controls and everything is all screwed up i hate this thing". not enough time to get used to it, or adjust controls to my desired locations.

Anyway bring on the snow I'm ready to get stuck and throw my shovel at twostroke!

/endthread
