Not sure what you are asking but I will never put together a fader nation sled. I'm from Colorado man, think about it!

LOL! In order to powder coat the tunnel, it has to be removed from sled RIGHT! I have never removed a tunnel from the sled/bulkhead, didn't know how much time is involved for a guy to do it himself and if it would be worth to do it if thats all a guy is doing.

I get what you are asking now. I know a lot of guys on the 4M have used different wrap techniques to make the tunnel black or carbon. But I have this feeling that mountainhorse wouldn't mind stripping down that sled to the tunnel to do the work. I think he does that after every ride anyway. :face-icon-small-coo

I recant my previous position on coating the tunnel/bulkhead assembly and fixturing.

If you ARE going to coat the chassis... do it with the whole thing assembled.

The chassis assembly has enough rivets/fasteners to hold it together while powder coating... BUT...BIG BUT...You must use low temp pow coat.

For me... I think I'll be shooting the whole thing with U-Tech catalized Polyurethane paint... a bit tougher than Imron... used in marine and fleet vehicles and on major airlines aircraft... This stuff is tougher than 95% of the powder coating types out there... and certainly tougher than any of the lower temp pow coats.

Interesting. I never really knew about that type of paint but often wondered how 747's kept their paint on. Anything special to spray that stuff?
 
Good surface prep... and if you etch the aluminum and use a good etch, and prime with a good quality aluminum primer...

Spraying is easy... but I suggest outdoor with a good respirator if you dont have a good booth or a forced-air respirator suit. All of the catalized urethanes are pretty darn toxic.

3:1 mix paint/catalyst... no reducer...recoat in 5min. cured overnight to rock hard.

Here is mostly what you asked for. The resolution is too weak in the black to really make the rails look right. Maybe someone else has some better Photoshop kung-foo. I did the swing arms in green instead of the rails. Also added the ski handles in green and removed the warning sticker for you!

I would buy that sled in a heart beat especially if it had black panels..
 
Photoshops look good!

I'd maybe suggest black front springs, black spindles, and green arms for a different look up front tho...


Also like someone's mention of black panels with green lettering, white outlines.


Not my choice of coloring for my sled, but does indeed look purty darn good!
