2014 clutch WONT come off

I have a 2014 pro that I bought last year, it only has about 250 miles on it. I have tried everything I can to get primary clutch off. I have used the clutch puller tool from SLP, I have tried the water/hydraulic method with tool. I have applied a little heat, not much, I have LIGHTLY taped on clutch tool. I'm at a loss here. Other than taking it to a dealer so they can rap on it with a hammer what else can I do. I'm afraid to hit the puller tool too hard with hammer and Don't want to over heat crank seal. Ive owned sleds for over 20 years and have never had this problem before.

The water method will work - a good seal on the puller and enough water is required. Unlike the TRA doos, you have to use a clutch puller on a poo (a TRA can use the stock bolt) - don't know if you used the puller. Plumbers tape works best for the seal, and sometimes is the only way to get a good seal. I put the sled completely on it's side, fill with water, use a well-taped high quality puller (SLP), and thread until it really stiffens up. Put sled back on the skis, gorilla bar and SLP holder, and the weasel pops within a turn or two. Lots of cleanup with compressed air. If it's below freezing, you have to heat the crank abit to get the moisture out. I've done this dozens of times in the last decade on my six sleds and for others, including three pros, always success if I do it right, with good tools. Most predictable method short of an impact, which I won't use on my own sleds. A dealer will use an impact. FWIW. Good luck.

Put your puller on there as tight as you can get it.

Boil a large pot of water.

Dump boiling water on the clutch.

Watch your feet.

Now for the obvious question: Why are you pulling the clutch off of a very low mileage sled?

I use acetone instead of water, no cleanup as it evaporates. No rust or moisture to worry about and no oily residue left. Wear safety glasses!

Really? Ours come of brand new and go straight to Indy Specialties. My question would be why hasn't it been off before. Cleaning, shimming, inspecting.

Agreed 100%- I send all new zero miles to Indy Dan..and after getting my clutch back from Indy Dan
(completely balanced)- next just floored me how much the crank had to be lapped to get it correct- good ole Polaris.........

I couldn't get the primary off my pro a couple months ago. Ended up packing the whole bolt hole with as much grease as I could. Then wrapped a ton of teflon tape on the puller and screwed it in. Makes a mess but I didn't want to use an impact or overtorque it and hurt the crank.

If you must know I was taking it off cause I was putting my electric start on my sons pro cause I don't need it.

I did get it off, I did the water/hydraulic and lots of Teflon tape method again and it finally came off. WOW did it come off. I live out in the country and it sounded like a gun went off, I'm sure the neighbors thought I was poaching again. Thanks for all the advice, I do appreciate it. Since we are on the clutch subject how much does indydan charge to balance a clutch. I have three of them I should get done. Guess I need to find out how to get a hold of him.

Thanks for the advice.I have also had hundreds of clutches off and can't get my assult 800 clutch off.

Glad to hear you got the clutch off. Its a good idea to pull your clutch's once a year and have them serviced and inspected. Saves a lot of mid season problems. Water has become our number 1 way of removing clutch's. We use a old puller with several inches cut off the end. We put a large towel over the clutch to keep it from hitting the ceiling. LOL. Grease works well but its messy.

my puller had a big bend on end of it, so i decided to use water method. worked great, but does using a towel like DLynn said work because mine broke my whole side pannel and hit me in the arm
