2013 PRO RMK Rumors

factory 2 stroke turbo(lol)

It still kills me to see that people think an OEM will offer a 2 stroke turbo.
emissions, and warranty ensure it will never see the light of day. there have been protos of weber motored 4 stroke pros, (supposedly 180hp).Wether they ever produce them is another story. Most factories are working on stuff 3-5 years ahead of time, With the final decisions made by managent 12-24 months ahead of time. I am sure they have a rough idea what they will do for next year, with little tweaks made in the spring.
Why produce an earth shattering sled if the economy isn't good enough so people have the disposible income to buy it????

I heard they were teaming up with Solindra and building a hybred starts out on gas and then switchs over to twin turbine generators to power the electric motor. No lie the meter reader told me so and Obama was funding it all with our tax dollars.

What kills me is when people think we are at the top of some technology plateau anywhere. If you know anything about technology it is that is speeds up the innovation, not slows it down. Why would you think that there won't be a clean, powerful 2 stroke turbo? Nearly all the high end sports car builders are going with smaller displacement turbo charged engines. Economy and emissions where you need it and power when that is the priority. Also, turbos are the easiest and cheapest to get extra power out of. 80-90% of the buyers run them stock and the rest(like us) turn them up.

Somebody around here has a quote in their sig about the infamous 07 900 not being dead, just suspended for a while. That was 6 years ago. Lots of tinkering can be had in 6 years.

Considering all the jingle invested in that motor I'm taking a wild guess...the 2013 Pro will be offered in a retooled (fixed?) 900 HO in the 170 HP range.

haha lol I think it would be the stupiest idea ever for Polaris to write 900 on a snowmobile again but the 170 HP idea would be awesome

2013

Heres my guesses in no specific order

1. A 2 1/2 in track, with a different design, the 5.1 has been around for ever, also Doo's now come with a 2 1/2 inch track stock, so Im assuming its a matter of time before Poo does also.

2.Team Tied Clutch

3. more hp/or DI engine

Same could be said about the 800 on the side from the 08-09-10 800 cfi motor issues.

but true enough, that motor was heavy and shaky, they could fix the shaky but not the heavy and im sure they will go the way of Cat with a turbo fourstroke with the number of 1100t sales....

I couldn't disagree more. The 900 is a great engine. My '06 900 never let me down for six full seasons and close to 4000 miles of riding. It had the SLP single, custom intake and many dollars in weight saving mods, but it was an awesome machine to ride. Now, I have a '12 Pro and love the chassis, but already miss the shoulder-wrenching torque of the 900. I have wet dreams about the 900 in the Pro chassis. If Polaris built it, I'd buy it.

Sent from my iPhone when I should be sledding.

I also had a 06 900 and I had over 2000 miles on it before I traded it in on the PRO..... Similar setup as Highvelocity... I have to agree with him it was a odd, hated sled by many.
What I liked was nobody had them or wanted them..... Then when you would pull some really hard lines in the steep and deep..... and those others (800cc sleds) could not get to where the 900 would go.... then the comments would come.... like wow "never seen a 900 perform so well".
Yes it had it's problems.... but that engine can make power.

I do like my pro a lot more than the 900.

I did....it's called a etec XP :face-icon-small-win

Sorry....I can't help myself!
Polaris has good chassis going, get a reliable engine with a little more poop and I might have to think about it again.

didnt Doo recall the 11' etecs for new pistons ?? lol look at how many 08,09,10 800 xp's that have some miles on them have new engines, or recent shortblock. way to many ( used to be a doo guy but switched to a poo this yr, we'll see what happens)

I would love to see an updated 900 CFI in a Pro chassis.... The 900 motor has the most torque of ANY Polaris motor prior to it's inception AND since it's release...

The best thing about the 9 is that it can easily be made reliable with factory parts:D

Back to reality though... an 800 HO that pumps out torque comparable to my "P.O.S." 900 would be really nice!:face-icon-small-hap

It would quite the gamble if Polaris would try to bring a 900 back and I don't think Polaris is ready for that again. Imagine how hard Polaris would have to spend on marketing just to convince people it's better the the old 900?? I know there's alot of good 900's out there, but the bad stories caused too much damage to their image.
800's are here to stay, don't expect a 900, 1000 2 strokes anytime soon. I'd just expect some sort of 800HO motor in 2013.

ok..I did pretty good calling the pro before its release..so lets see if I can do it again...2013....over 800 cc HO motor.. new 2.75 track....and..naw I will stop there ...lets see how close someone gets........

hmm

Sales figures are up and holding strong. Future sales are looking to continue that trend!! ,,,, hmmmmm Marketing says, ride this wave all the way to shore, so Im guessing small refinements and that's it. Even if they have something big, they'll wait.. Wouldn't want to throw away any residual income due to the Pro's earned popularity by introducing something new and unproven at this point. It's just not sound marketing..

Don't get me wrong, a little more beef under the hood would be a nice upgrade...

just my .02

ya think there is some happy stock holders this season? I dont know what the numbers are..but they sold some serious amounts of pros this season...I bet they sold more then all others combined....

I like the idea on the 900 in a pro chassis, tons of power available that no 800 could touch in only a few pounds more.If they refined the motor a little bit so it doesn't shake the bars so bad they would have on hot sled. That being said would cure belt and crank issues.
I rode with 900s many times and this one guy now owns an 800 and says he loved the power the 900 had compared to his 800. These 900 motors sure can turn a track at high speeds.
