2013 Pro R 800 low rpm, low top speed

injectors

Mine has yellow injectors and I thought they might be part of my problem. So I swapped them out with my buddies sled (also 2012 yellows). Helped my rpm a little bit, but still not holding above 8000 when wot on the trail. Still dipping down to 7800.

Getting frustrating. Don't know if it's with the RKT Drop in kit or what.

This might sound crazy but it could be your track drivers....take a look at indy specialties drivers on eBay. Dan has a.pretty good write up on them. I talked to him briefly this summer about them as he was just working on them. Might be worth an email to him. He described it to me and don't hold me to it but he said the drivers after time can become worn and.lose their.pitch then digging into your track robbing top end speed.

Will check my track drivers, but I doubt that is the cause of my rpm loss. After switching injectors, I believe I might have a backshift issue. Just to be sure I ordered slp Blue/pink primary spring, team black/purple secondary spring and a derlin washer to keep everything happy.

Will report if this has any effect on my r's

At 2,000 miles my reeds were missing parts of most all petals on the bottom. My exhaust valves were not working properly because the 1/32" hole under the bellows was totally blocked, it needs to be cleaned with a very small needle. The hole was blocked again at 3,900. Give your primary spring a good look also, they break quite often and take a good look at your rollers in you primary, if you've gone 2,000 miles without a rebuild they may be hammered.

Roni where are you gonna put your delrin washer? in the spring cup? Both ends of the spring??

primary

rmk,
Plan to slap it between the spring cup and moveable sheeve.

I have checked my primary spring and rollers. It all seems to be in working order.

I have been battling this issue with my 2011 800 as well, ive replaced everything , tried everything, retried everything. Im sick of the sled and wanna burn it. The last thing i have left is change out the pistons. I have 900 miles on it and it ran amazing till about 600 miles then the rpms went from 8300 to 7900. Through the exhaust the pistons look great with no wear at all but there is alotta piston movement. I can actually hear the pistons slap when i rock the clutch back and forth and i have quite a bit of ring land gap.012 thou which is alot! Hopefully the wossner pistons fix all this and will restore my full rpm. I will post back if it pulls the rpms! please post if you figure yours out too!

Springs/ Clutch

Put in my black/purple secondary spring w/ derlin washer under the spring cup. Took it for a rip across the yard a couple times last night and the problem seems to still be there...Could see the tach going to 7900 after going up to 8200. Only about 100 yard run though.
Brought it back into the shop and switched out the stock primary spring with a blue/pink. 140/340 rate. Even though the 2.5'' rate is the same as stock, it will engage at 4200 now instead of the stock 3800. Haven't got the chance to run it, but will tomorrow.

On a side note, the primary clutch cover's bushing is looking pretty tore up now for some reason? I have another HD cover I can try to switch it out with if Im still getting the problem. If the problem doesn't go away I'll try the wife's primary clutch off her 600(w/ 800 weights and spring) and see what happens.
Will try to report back tomorrow

Good is better.

Every newer Polaris I've messed around with makes this noise when rotating the clutch back and forth. 600 and 800.
Mine with the drop-in kit still makes a slight slap noise.

update:
SLP blue/pink primary, Team black/purple + derlin secondary, 10-68 weights, 1200 ft elevation =
8300-8500 rpm. Seems to be holding above 8200 now all the time with a hot belt.
The rpm is a little high for me so I'm going back to the stock primary spring.

My clutch cover had a bad bushing, was hanging up during engagement atleast because engagement is at 4000 now, instead of 4200 with bad bushing.

Feeling a little better about my sled now that the r's are consistent. :face-icon-small-hap

Have you cleaned the exhaust valves? Had kind of the same problem with mine and finally decded to take them apart yesterday and they were terrible...can't wait till this weekend to try it.

Yep, been thru the ex valves. Found them quite gummy but the holes were open to the cylinders.
