2013 800 cylinder/engine changes

Does anyone have any legit info. on the alleged changes that were made to the 2013 800 cylinder skirts(or any other internal engine part)???

Anyone have any legit measurements from the new 2013 800 cylinders, pistons, or rods yet???

Have they beefed the cylinder skirts up???

Are the rods longer???

Anything???

An English builder (Villiers I think) did this (cylinder off-set trick lol) in the 40`s or something to there problem 2 smoke. It worked and because they were English they stuck to it.
Unfortunately for them the Japanese did it differently lol.

Maybe a Poo engineer was told to do some research and came across this first instead of the "long rod" or "why does the Suzuki work with the same rod ratio" threads.

I'm going to be a virgin Poo owner too. I've told myself "there is no problem" that proper oil and fuel will not take care of.
Hope I don't find out that some distant relative fooled around in England lol.

Turning up oil, warming up, good fuel, and how you run it may help some peeps, but in the end, it's been shown time and again that simple luck - parts and assembly - has the most influence on motor longevity with this design.

There are three ways to solve the issues if you want to own a pro - warranty (and a backup sled), one or more of the 'fix' kits (am lumping them together), or deep pockets for a spare motor/buy one when she lets go (backup sled may be handy again). Best mountain chassis in the world, poo's large bore motor engineering and execution is the worst. Just the way it is, and part of the adventure, I guess. Better than Vegas in my goggles...

I'll start out by apologizing in advance if this question has been covered recently in some other thread...................

Any word on what the actual engine changes are on the 2013 800 yet???

It'd be nice to know prior to sinking any money into engine mods on an older Pro only to find out later on that the 2013 cylinder skirts are thicker, pistons are designed better, and/or the rods are longer.....................

According to some info in another thread they at least offset the cylinder to decrease the side load to the piston / cylinder. The pistons are the same part number so nothing new there. Others can add and clarify as needed.

pistons are the same..cylinders are different..what exactly is different hasnt been confirmed..

Until someone lays a take off 2013 cylinder and a 2013 piston next to a 2012 Cylinder and Piston... and shoots some good pics as well as takes some measurements....we will not know the difference.

As 15 peeps actively view this thread in search of Somone already tearing down their new pro. Come on guys it's August! Those of you who have their sleds already RIP THEM APART so we can all sleep lol :)

Hopefully that won't be needed as much this year...

Exactly!!!

Didn't Carl's already install a big bore on one of the 2013's???

If so, they must have the "old" parts sitting around somewhere???

I just want to know what they will be doing with the 11's and 12's when we loose a motor for whatever reason.

Will we be getting 2013 specced equipment or the same equipment that failed?

I havn't had issues with my 12 yet, I'm just curious.

Unless there is a warranty recall done to replace the original parts with new spec parts (like the '08-'09 CFI 800 motor update), you'll get the same parts you started with, unless you and your dealer can work out some sort of arrangement (assuming parts are compatible). Polaris isn't going to "update" your sled just because something fails.
