2013 800 cylinder/engine changes

Hello,

Does anyone have any legit info. on the alleged changes that were made to the 2013 800 cylinder skirts(or any other internal engine part)???

Seems that if more meat could be added to the cylinder skirts(I.E. Suzuki 800) we would be able to get by with the rod ratio issue that is obviously present with these engines.................It would sure be interesting to know what actual dimensional changes were made..................Having that info. would make the difference between pouring money into 2011/2012 engine VS purchasing the 2013 machine..............

Something to ponder...............

Warranty is out on my 2011, no pondering to be done. Snow checked a 2013.

I just had a revelation!!!! What if Polaris is planning this debacle!? Make it so you won't hold on to your sled therefore they sell more new sleds. Hmmmm.

read the other threads on this topic. any knowledge that is known has been shared. everything else is guessing.

pv

I have read some of the "other" threads although I didn't have time to read all of them nor did I have the permission to read them in their entirety due to my basic member status................Guess I should do something about that one day??? :face-icon-small-win

Either way I can assume from your answer that no one has any actual measurements to bring to the table..........

Just thought I'd ask................

You and some of your Oregon buds need to take that other Oregon dude on a long(and I mean, long) ride. Yup, he's a yawner. Glad you guys got him up there.

Have a good summer.

Hey Z, rode yesterday in a foot of fresh! Don't mean to rub it in. The good news is, that unless you ride on the trails, he is not to be seen. You can have him LOL

I was up there for a total of six days, never seen him nor did anyone else around there seen him either. BTW Larry, you suck if you rode in a foot of fresh! Lol! Mine have already been put away! I hope we ride with you next year.:face-icon-small-coo

Hey there, nice to hear from you! I hope to ride with you again next year. It was a great day yesterday. I will send you a video.
As for Snowmobiler... he hides in the weeds a lot. He still thinks high marking is the real test of a mountain sled and rider... LOL

It has been said over and over in the other threads that part numbers for the same parts change from year to year.

The part numbers won't change from year to year unless something is different. It costs too much money for a company to create, implement, and maintain a new part (or number) for it to change without a significant reason. You can very easily check and see that part numbers for the same part on the model sled have been the same for years. This is true of most all parts for all manufacturers. I would be very interested to see a part number change with no significance associated with it. That being said, it could change due to a vendor change or other small change which is almost of no importance to everyone and has no significant impact on performance.
In this instance, not only has the number changed, but the description and one of the mating parts have changed too. You can bet there is a difference. Now...that doesn't mean they solved the problem. Time will tell.

Only repeating what was said in the other 2 threads going on this topic.

It only takes a trip through the online parts listings to bear out the facts. There is no way that part numbers are changed for no reason. Look for yourself and you will see.

Offset cylinder? Is there a new piston #?

Is there a chance that relocating the cylinder to the rear of center (maybe with a pin relocate on the piston too) change the thrust applied to the front of the cylinder?

You're catching on! :face-icon-small-win

Have FUN!

G MAN

PS - And no, part nos. do not change unless there were changes made albeit sometimes small like the cylinders from '11 to '12 (new injection porting to accommodate the Bosch injectors). The changes to the '13 cylinders were not small, I can assure you.

Kinda like the voltage regulators that weren't a problem.
