2012 track vs 2013 track

It's a big improvement. You really want that 2013 track. The tracks require different drivers so if you got the 2012 and upgraded you'd need to have the new drivers pressed on before you swapped the track out.

The ST Camoplast 120 for 13 costs $735. Drivers are $68 for the pair plus you gotta pull the shaft and have them pressed on. With the 13 you'll also get the 10" inch ski which is an absolute must (if the 12 kit doesn't have it yet), suspension updates, and new rails.

Definitely worth the $1000. Plus you have a years less wear and tear on it.

If the 2012 has the newer 10in ski then I would save the $1000 and go with the 2012. Not a $1000 worth of difference between those 2 tracks.

I'm a pretty experienced mountain sledder just getting into bikes. What sort of difference is there between the two tracks? Like capability wise will I be really limited compared to the same bike with a 2013?

One thing I remember from the 2012 is it is a 1.75 track and the 13 went to a 2 inch and different rails I have had both and don't rember saying boy the 13 is so much better? It's all about the smiles! And both deliver! Get the cheapest one with the newest Ski as that's the biggest improvement!

The main thing we saw about the 13 track was the removal of the fiberglass rods in the track that made the track roll over easier on the trail. That with the wider ski was a game changer getting to the back country on the trail.

So this isn't like comparing a 121 to a 163 then I assume....?

No - the differences between kits are fairly subtle for someone who doesn't have much time on a snowbike. But - the mountain horse has gotten better every year, so I'd buy the newest kit that you can afford. The newer ones handle better and will make the learning curve easier and more enjoyable for you.

Where are you at? I've seen some 2014 kits going for around $4,500. The 2014 has revised suspension settings and the flex arm.

I'm in the land of inflation and high prices - Alberta....

Prices vary wildly around here depending on where you are... 3500 for a 2012 4500-5600 for a 2013-2014.... Cheapest I've seen so far is 3500 for the 2012 and I've been looking for about 2-3 months.

I would stay away from the 12. The 13 just works better. 14 not as big of change. the front flex arm I don't care for, it will throw the bike , the rear end, which ever direction it flexes on rutted trails. Makes for a spooky ride if it's not locked out.

i live in alberta and ride with a "2011" kit. has the fox float shocks. my brothers 2013 kit is truly not much different. our only upgrades are the 10" ski. i'd sell you my kit if i can find a 2015 kit though haha

I'd sell you a 15' kit, but getting across the boarder might be a bioch.
