2012 Push or Mpi turbo?

go with push they perform better then mpi

I've ridden both. Guess what they both run great! Equally setup with the same boost, clutching, gearing, track and so on they run the same. The one big difference is one looks like it should be on a Yamaha and one should be on the other guys sleds. I think most of us that ride a Yamaha is because its a well build product with great fit and finish and will last us many years of dependable service, even boosted. There is a lot of good kits out for the Yamaha and most of them run well. Most kits are well built but when building a few kits here and there is ok but try building a couple of hundred at a time and make all of them just like the last. In the end I want a kit that’s is well build with good fit and finish with top shelf components, just like my Yamaha.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p

BTW for those of you who want a proven product, there is a lot more of these kits on the snow then you think. <O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p

Here is a link to the instructions. Look through them and see if you can see the difference in fit and finish between the kits.

Without question MPI is top notch quality. However, I seem to notice there is something else that forces me to take a stronger look at Push. The fuel delivery. MPI appears to be using the same old piggyback Gems box, while Push will have total ecu replacement.

Matt & Push Turbo...can either of you elaborate more on this? Explain the benefits of your fuel programming solution. What happened to MPI using the same standalone as Impulse??

Both kits that are sold to Yamaha use the same style fuel controller. These kits sold to Yamaha have a price point that we can't meet with a standalone system. The benefits of a standalone system are clear but not for this kit at this price.

?????????

No one has answered the question yet as to which turbo kit is going to be offered on the 2012 snowcheck nytros. I have talked to the dealer and they have called their rep who still didn't give them and answer. I would really like to know.
Also a question for MPI, how easy is it upgrade to say 220HP with your kit? I see its close to $500 to upgrade the PUSH kit up to 250HP with 95 octane fuel. Or is that un realistic??????

What is the cost to purchase the standalone after you already have the MPI kit from Yamaha?

Push was what was delivered to our dealer as the factory direct kit. It comes with the dobeck box for a fuel system.

not realistic,

push split his turbo kit in two setup's

0-5.000 and 5.000 - 10.000, that is only possible with a standalone, and a perfect solution for everyday riders.

the ecu is reading the elevation all the time and if you cross 5 - 5.5k it switch automatically to high elevation map. also push is using wideband on the ecu, to control the engine all the time.

Push turbo

cute oil pump MPI, is that a fail safe system for a fail safe sytem. You should have just copied push's turbo kit to the "T" to save on some weight. You mount your charge tube in three different spots stainless steel dont chafe. Another reason to go push over MPI is the customer service. Mack at MPI made alot of enemies a couple of years ago. You would try to call out there to ask a question about a kit and no answer or just get put on hold for a half hour just to talk to no one. Push keep doing what your doing your kit is awesome and customer support is top notch.

Push Turbo at a company level, SERIOUSLY gave you a thumbs down?

Yes; user name Push Turbo. Probably why mpi is building factory kits now, Push Turbo is to busy playing kid games on the Internet. Never had anything against push turbos I just prefer mpi, after this childish stuff I question what kind of a company push is.

love the push kit ran very well! amazing how well it worked! had perfect throttle response, felt like a stock sled with a ton more power. keep doing your thing push!

One advantage i see with the push kit is that the fuel box is not locked so you can adjust if needed. I know this is true about the kits that come directly from push now, not sure about the push kit when it was sold with a yamaha label on it. that box might be locked. Its my understanding that the MPI kit fuel controller is locked(required by yamaha). Also, the push kit is rated at 198hp.

I would agree that the fit and finish on some of the MPI pieces are a bit nicer. But the push kit is $700 cheaper and you know it works because it passed Yamahas durability test. So i guess its personal preference.

the push kit is not rated at 198hp, its 50 hp gain.....thats 180. secondly, the push kit is not 700 cheaper, they retail at the same price....

I think the system he is referring to is the same system that they were selling to Yamaha last year but are selling on their own now. They do rate it a 198hp and it is 700 cheaper. I am not a push turbo advocate nor do I advocate the mpi setup but the price is right on the push kit.

Thanks for clarifying. Its true the kit that push was selling to Yamaha they are now selling on their own. Retail is $3295. And its rated at 198hp. Great deal IMO. Tough to argue the fact that the kit passed Yamahas durability test.

I was told by my dealer that one of the reasons they wanted to drop the Push kit is durability issues. I know the main reason was supply issues but my dealer said there were warranty issues also.

Yamaha only tested these things on a few sleds for one winter. I don't think that is really a true durability test.

Hundreds of MCX 180 kits on the snow for 1-3 years now with very little issue. That is what I would call a durability test.

Just as with anything built on a sled or any vehicle preproduction durability tests just can't simulate what the average joe is going to do to that thing once he gets his hands on it. The only true durability test is getting it in the hands of the masses.

Any idea what kind of durability issues they had with the push?

Thanks

Thanks for the clarification, I was running a push/yamaha kit last year and IMO the only things I thought were questionable were the charge tube where it goes thru the bulkhead was cheesy as he'll, the mounting bracket fornthe turbo was extremely weak, the oil return line should have been a better material, as well as having a return pump, and the filter location caused it to get very iced up in deep snow conditions. I had good luck with the kit, and had a blast with it. Will be trying the mpi turbo setup this year so I guess we will see, can't wait for snow, bring on the boost!
