2012 or 13

i know its probably been brought up countless times but do you guys think the 13 is worth it or is a 12 with only a couple hundred miles worth getting instead and putting aftermarket stuff into it? moneys not to much of an issue

With all the changes they made on the 2013, I made the jump and snow checked one - Pro 163 Retro - yeh baby!!

If money is no object I would get the 13. I ordered a 13 but sometimes I think I'm stupid because I have seen some great deals on low mile 12's. Comparing it to my 12, with airframes, there wasn't a huge difference. They just made an already awesome sled, a little bit better.

I went the other route and picked up a 2012 Assault with ES this spring for a tad over $9k. Was shiny and new, right out of the crate. Just me, when buying new I go for prior year holdovers.

13 Pro is light years better than 12 or 11. Assault isnt that different as I understand it. No belt drive for the Assault. The belt drive is worth the price of admission by itself. Light, low maintenance and instant power transfer. Price an inferior aftermarket system and decide for yourself. I rode a 2013 for a whole day this spring. They are more than worth the price of admission IMHO. I would not consider an 11 or 12 unless the price was very low. Even then, the 13 is going to kick your rear head to head.

Sounds like your very happy with your decision. I'm happy for you. I'm glad with my purchase also.

13 Pro is light years better than 12 or 11. .

when they are close in price and represent many long hard hours of work to purchase it makes them all equally valuable in my books

..with all due respect i just find it upsetting sometimes when the fella;s that can buy new iron all of a sudden can;t find anything good to say about the iron they just upgraded from..

..myself if i had a twelve i would spend the savings from upgrade on goodys...just as long as the belt drive was possible.

..may everyone enjoy their iron..!!!

The '13 is coming with thicker cylinder skirts = better longevity/reliability. This one's a no brainer - '13 all the way!

Have FUN!

My Pro is getting the Indy Dan treatment in about two years, so it will have beefier skirts. Btw, Polaris has made tweaks to this motor 3 years in a row.... You really think 2013 is the year they get it right?

Get a 12 and put a PAR 910 in it. Be around the same price as a 13, and you wont care about the belt drive, and you will get thicker cylinder skirts.:face-icon-small-ton

Please tell me where I can get a PAR 910 for the 2-3 grand price diff between a '12 and '13! :face-icon-small-ton

Have FUN!

13 is a bit young for me but I like shorter skirts. Just saying.:baby:

Wow, interesting comments. I think it depends what the money difference is. If you can get a 2012 for around 8k (and possibly some goodies like shocks, head, can etc.), you are going to save a good $4k. That's enough for a turbo! Take $900 of that and you can add a belt drive to your 2012. Don't get me wrong, I'm buying a 2013 myself but that's after two seasons on the '11 (yeah, I was one of the test dummies ;) ). Some stuff I'm excited about are the boards, better seat, throttle block and convenience when changing the ethanol plug (handy for starting at a low elevation and changing at a higher). If I had a low mileage 2012 I likely would not have made the jump. I'm still convinced that Polaris has a new 800 coming in a year or two.
