2012 M8 pipe w/ internal stinger?

I read on dynotech that the 2012 procross 800's have an internal stinger in the pipe. Anyone have any concerns regarding that? The sled they were talking about was a production procross 800, so I don't know for sure the pipe is the same as the proclimbs, but would assume it is.

I know the ski-doo guys were having problems with them. Are the kit builders accounting for that, or do they feel it is a non issue?

depending on the size would be weather or not you should deal with it.. i have done a bunch on the doo's. there about 1' long into the pipe and its just not worth risking it coming apart...its so easy to get em apart.. so i see no reason not to do it. but i like the peice of mind.

once someone can cut apart a pipe and see whats going on, then the descision can be made... im betting most builders wont do much about it as the reason so much talk in the doo section is such a large portion of that market is people doing there own kits.. so they try to deal with all the problems, not just get turbo'd.

We take all of ours out (Doo's). I think Turbo Performance is even recommending it to their customers.

the stinger is for noise will hurt the turbo but only by 8 to 10 percent
But thats just another pound of boost.
My recomendation is to take it out and make it stick in 2 inches.

I agree most builders wont mention it either but why not take it out your going through all that trouble why not deal with these known problems before they occur. good piece of mind

So this is on the end where the pipe enters the can. Do you have to cut the end off the pipe and then re-weld to remove this.

I would think they made one pipe for the low elevation trail sleds and the mountain sleds. The stinge would just get the back pressure to where it should be. I would leave it in unless you want to reduce your performance. Cat does a very good job with their pipes.

it has nothing to do with backpressure.. its a sound related issue..

as for cat doing a good job, yeah, for NA, but they dont design a whole lot of there stuff for boost!!
