2012 cuts out when you sqeeze the throttle

I have a 2012 m1100t that always cuts out when you hit the the throttle fast from a dead stop or from a roll all the way to 60mph is this a normal safety feature or is something not right its all stock accept bikeman 2.25 exhaust and muffler

Does it cut out immediately, or after a second or two? In addition, how much fuel do you have in the tank when it does this?

Under half a tank and after a second or so you likely have a smart valve problem. It would seem that a lot of 2012s that didn't have issues last year are suddenly having more smart valve problems after sitting all summer. I know mine is.

I would guess it is hitting the rev limiter. Did it do it last year or is the exhaust new?

I just bought the sled used it has about 30 hours on it I am getting it ready to come IP on friday. Right know were im at about 850 elevation

If it is the rev limiter. . . Which you can check. . .

Then it will likely go away at high elevation in deep snow.

The way to check it is. . . with key one and RPM displayed on the screen hold the up arrow button down until max rpm is displayed. While still holding it push the bottom button this should reset the max rpm. Then start the sled and mash the throttle stop immediately after it cuts out. hold the up arrow button again to see max rpm. I think stock sled is like 8100 rpm rev limiter. You will see if it was hitting it.

Mine was popping when wot and just checked my gauge and it showed 8630rpm. I have the bc275 kit So I'm definitely hitting the rev limiter .

bet it's the rev limiter mine does the same thing
8300 is the rev limiter on a stock sled I'm hoping it quits when I get up in elevation
