2012 Assault Graphics-what were they thinking?

I finally found the sled of my dreams. I was so excited to see that you could order the series 5.1 track for the Assault, and then I saw that they put stupid punk rocker ski-doo freeride graphics on the side of this thing. They definitely over did it. I don't think I will be getting that Assault unless somebody wants to trade me with RMK side panels. Anybody else's opinion?

I feel the same exact way! I think wraps and other graphics r cool but i would rather have unique extravagent graphics rather than having the same ones as everyone else. I want that sled so bad but i dont think i will buy it. Will most likely try to find a used 2011 switchback assault. Like u said the only way i would get it is if someone wanted to trade plastics from another sled.

yep feel the same here I like the spring only white blue and red on the pro rmk much more then the assault. So basically I would want an assault with that color scheme a lot more then the wrap style it has now. I might have to go with a pro rkm 155 instead of the assault

i thought the assault looked real nice ,i dont think i would not buy the sled based on decals a wrap of your own is only a couple hundred bucks.

I'm starting to think the masses would be smart to wrap every sled that you buy. Then who cares what Polaris does with graphics and colors. The sleds flat out rock! Sure makes em look nice when you peel it off to sell versus a worn and scratched sled. Plus there is huge snow removal and therefore performance gains by having a mtn sled vinyled up. Don't even know what a wrap would cost you guys but say $400ish has to pay for itself in resale..performance gains are then free? Think on it

It's guys like you who complain about BNG in the first place and then when Polaris does a wrap you complain it's not cool enough. If you have the money in the first place to buy a new sled then im guessing you have the money to take a heat gun remove the stock graphics and put on a wrap of your choice. And why spend 12000 on a sled you don't want just cause your pantys are in a bunch of how the graphics look on the assault.

It would be nice if you could just get it with the graphics removed like Ski-Doo does with the freeride. Exspecially since they are letting you pick the side panel color you want with the sled.

It is nice to see them giving more options in the snowcheck this year.

Well you can peel them off in a couple of hours and have an all black canvas to do with what you want.

Nothing wrong with people saying that they hate the wrap. Truth is if that is the way people feel, voicing it now only helps give Polaris a chance to change/adapt now and sell more sleds later.
If you think cosmetics don't matter in sledding then your not taking a look around. Klim, MotorFist, Artic FX, all these companies understand that the right mix of performance and looks are what sell products to "most" people.
The fact remains to be seen but if Polaris missed the mark on this graphic package then braapinbastard and chunkysoup87 are only helping by calling attention to the elephant in the room.
x2 me on the graphics. I think the assault looks like it came right out of a Japanese comic book. Love the retro blue, white and red sleds. Wish that was an option for the Pros.

Would have liked to see them have the option of a wrap. I'd prefer if all sleds came like the shift having no stickers, then sell wraps or let people personalize them as they like. Either way it's still the same great sled underneath. Actualy thinking about it the one place I would like vinyl from the factory would be on the inside of the tunnel for de-iceing reasons.

Having a 07 Switchback (last of the 144"), I am looking hard at the SB Assault to replace it. My daughter in college texted me last night after seeing them and she said "the graphics on the Assault look like the PowerPoints I made when I was 8 years old". I have to agree with her. I like the star incorporated but it is way too spazy.

Yes all the sleds should be available with no decals, just pick black,white or whatever and do your own thing. I painted my mod sled very very simple purple with 70's cuda type stripe and pretty much everybody really likes the simple look...imho

Also the badest thing they could have done is make the assualt ALL satin black,tunnel,skid everything...that would be bad a$$

I like the assault with the red side panels... BUt i'm torn between that, orange, and black pro....decisions decisions

My biggest issue is the fact that they are going to charge you $350 to change to the silver instead of the red. Wrap is a wrap shouldnt charge you extra when your ordering it. For that matter whats the big deal on changing panels when you snow check? Tell them which you want, should be fairly easy!!

Reminds me of the Subaru WRX STi when it first came out. Bad @ss car but had that boy racer spoiler. I didn't buy it for that reason.

I think the Assault is the "flashy" sled for Polaris. A lot of people buy that sled because they think they are going to live up to Dan Adams. So Polaris made it the "flashy" sled with the wrap. I don't think it looks bad, but I wrapped my sled so that it would be unique. I don't want 40 other people in the area to have a sled that looks like mine.

I hope the wrap will be an extra cost and you can go w/o. I thought that is how the Freestyle worked. Anyway, you can pull the graphics off and put whatever it is you like on there. I think the panels are white. Lots of white panels in the new lineup.

HELLOOOOOO!!!! They did have a blank canvas sled for a few years. It was called a Shift........ And honestly, for the money a guy saved on those and with the wraps out there now, those were a hell of a deal!!
