2012 600 Turbo Pro

I've had a chance to ride Carbureted turbos the same as your Highmark Rec. 600 kit... and a pump-gas style kit on a 2009 600 RMK... Very different in throttle response... not really comparable IMO. The fuel injected CFi 600 was much more snappy on the bottom end.

then the carb one needed some work.

OA,
Fresh tune on the Highmark Rec kit in a 155-600 carb from Lance ... spot on ..

The EFi (cfi) sleds just seem to be able to run better with the controls that are available... IMO

Cerrtainly more flexible at widly varying altitudes than the carbed turbo kits.

I've seen some very strong carbed sleds with turbo kits... just more work IMO.

But I digress... I think the 600 PRO RMK would make a great turbo sled for me and my kind of riding.

My carbed version definitely had some lag due to the secondary fuel pump kicking on. I never had any engine issues and at 15lbs it took me to some crazy climbs. I do think that the new stuff boondockers is doing with the timing and 3d mapping a Pro T600 will be amazing. However, for me personally I would rather run a PGT 800.

Mtnhorse, you should build it and let me take it for spin to change my mind!!

MH... I typed about a 1,000 word response. Just decided it wasnt worth getting into. Its your opinion, and I stand by mine, that 600 still needed some work.

I think you need to spend some time with someone who knows carb turbos in and out.

Do you still have your turbo?

Yes... and I love every minute of it. Everytime I ride it, I come home jacked up like a 3 year old on Mountain Dew.

Most people I know are sure happy when they get out of the turbo gig...why?
What part about it are they tired of?

I have a bunch of reasons why.... I dont know if this is the place to get into it. It is part of the 1000 word response I didnt post so a chiiit flingin match didnt start in a perfectly good thread.

Simple answer... turbo sleds are not for everyone.. sorry if I hurt some feelings with that statement.

Totally gotcha....neither are big bores or nitrous or....putting gas in a sled. :)

Everyone has a different deal. LOL

I do miss the 600 turbo it was a light asss sled. I couldnt imagine a 600 turbo in a pro chassie. about 190-220 Hp in a 430lb sled.... Thats a sweet power/weight ratio right there. I love my 700 race turbo, but the power is hard to control in the trees and such at times. Its all about rider preference but that would be a fun sled day in and day out!
Dan that 600 was a sweet sled. Did very well for me i'll miss her for sure...

I have to get another turbo. It's just not the same. I really miss knowing that you are easily going to make it with plenty of momentum. Felt so much safer and in control in tuff situations. A lot easier to get out of trouble. And when you are going up a long steep intense hill and come upon a land mine you can get around it and get some momentum and control back. You can ride with less throttle when you don't need it. It would match the brakes on the pro. You barely would need to push on it most of the time.
Fun factor would definitely be great on one of these. So playful like the difference between a modded 2 stroke dirt bike vs the new 4 strokes. Popping suddenly over every little snow pile you felt like. Lighter and more responsive.
Sure wouldn't take much work for a young grandpa like me. At least I could get in a couple more years of feeling younger.

Here ya go http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=257639

Now back on topic....if I had the money to do one of both I would, i think you can make a 800 feel just like the 600, in fact im positive of it, just takes some different parts in which you can afford in a hurry if your not spending 400 dollars on a barrel every six rides or so, if you can feel the gyro from the longer stroke your not riding tight enough trees... :)

OK... I'll bite... what can you do to an 800 to get rid of the rotational force difference of a ligher crank, shorter stroke, and smaller reciprocating weight of a 600? (and this is not meant to be a smart-azz question)

BTW.... I just got a photo today of the young guy's 900 we got back on the snow two seasons ago... That cover is looking good and protecting the investment in time and parts pretty well.... Thanks again!

Are you still on the T-900??

Nice sled. Not sure if it fits this grandpa. Thanks though. Rob (Fbomb) kind of said the same thing. Something about trimming down the lugs I think was one of the reasons along with a few lightweight parts. I once had a 420 lb mod that spoiled me. Actually I bought it for my wife but it was everyones favorite at the time that rode it. Imagine how light you could make a 600.

turbo 600

Hi sledhead004 my name is tyler, In response to your question about turboing a 600 in 2008 I was racing for polaris on the rmsha curcuit was trying to come up with some power for the 600 class mod. I also was looking for more power in my play sled. I found it in the way of a 53 turbo kit from Aerocharger. Not only did it build awesome power it was very reliable, the polaris 600 is just a great motor and I am really happy with my new one in my 2011 rush which I long tracked. I am sure a turbo on the 2012 pro 600 will be amazing for you.

what i would like to do is a 660 turbo. that would be a kick in the ***.

pv

We did a few of the 660 turbos and did not get the return on investment with the 660 kit we had hoped for. The 600 and a turbo are a match that is hard to beat. I still have a 2010 600 Rush with a turbo and it is just "Fun". Sure the 800s are faster but there is just something about a 600 that is fun to flip around.
