Summits got suspension changes and narrower ski stance that suppossedly make it feel 50lbs lighter. New 2.5" non-ported PowderMax, 2011s were suppossedly 100-150ft higher on the hill. Interesting...

stock 2.5 track.. thats a DARN good idea. methinks the 800 etec 163 with even the smallest of diets is gonna be on HARD to beat sled now.. the 2.5 is such a huge advantage just from 2.25 or 2.3 or whatever they were before. really impressed with ski-doo.. lets see how the motor fares thought..

No 4-stroke Summit. 155-160hp out of the 800 ETec. The only amazing thing I see about the track is that obviously it is a fact that to compete with the Powerclaw from Cat you have to use a taller lug. If a 2.25 lug can compete with a 2.5 traction wise, it will win weight wise. And less rotating weight is huge.

I took my time to read through the Ski-Doo updates and not jump to an conclusions but I should have because it would have saved me some time. This new line up is disappointment to me. A 600cc, 60hp 4-stroke??? That sounds fun!!! Seriously, POLARIS IS PROBABLY GOING TO HAVE THE MOST EXCITING SLED IN THE MOUNTAINS!!!! Really!?!?! When was the last time that was the case?? Did it really take Ski-Doo FOUR YEARS of development to figure out that they can narrow the ski stance on the XP?? The real question is did they ditch the sway bar yet???

I am just venting, and I am sure the new Ski-Doos will actually be pretty sweet sleds on the snow, which is what matters. If AC comes out with the 1000HO I will be excited. Imagine that, I'll be excited about a new sled that is still in a chassis that will be 7 years old. I guess I just expected more from the yellow camp for 2011.

What...no 1200 Summit.....AAArrrrrggg! I don't understand, these sleds are the future and with a turbo they work awesome! I see lots of aftermarket tunnels this year.

Probably didn't want to release a 4 stroke Mtn sled that they didn't have under the weight of the Nytro, when weight has been their claim to fame. Now to top it off, Polaris steals their thunder in the 800 Mtn 2 smokes

Hopeful this XP will be easier to sidehill than th 09....cause that one was a beotch on it's side if you ask me

No 1200 ? I bet it has to do with all the patents Yamaha has on the 4 stroke technology in a mountain sled. It doesn't allow Dud, i mean Skud the freedom it needs to compete with Yamaha. BRP wil be chasing its tail for years !

Really though, cat seems to have been quite far ahead of the game with their m series. All the other manufacturers have been through several chassis changes trying to make something that works as well.

I wish people would lay off on the seven year old thing. So it is seven years old, so what? The rest of the manufacturers have had "new" and "exciting" changes only to change it again and again. While the cat people have had a change to refine and get the reliability that the others seem to be lacking. Now they still need to refine a some more things but really it seems to me that if they throw an updated round of plastics on it and most people would be happy with the "change".

As for not being "rider forward", well I hope they never do go there. If I had liked that I would have stayed with the doo I was riding. My shoulders are so much happier on the m, I can just turn with my feet.

BUT, the first couple years of the M were not stellar as far as ride quality....I rode the first couple editions quite a bit and remember that.

You are quite correct Scott, had honestly while they have been getting better they still need to do some work on the ride.

I might even go so far as to say the 09 and 10 ride qualities stand out WAY above the previous editions. :)

7 year old chassis

Now I'm not bashin the M, I loved ridin the old M7, flickable...

but,

If you're not moving forward, you're standing still, and if you're standing still, you'll never be in the lead......

just sayin.....

They could easily improve on the M....
good sled nontheless..

I am not bashing on the M series chassis either, just a sarcastic remark about how I will be MORE excited about that sled than any of the new Ski-Doos. As far as the M chassis, I couldn't agree more. It is the easiest sled to ride I have ever ridden in the mountains. However, if the '10 is a drastic improvement in ride quality compared to previous models, wow!! They must have been pathetic. I still think there's a way to have rider-forward and an easy handling sled in the mountains, and I am hoping the new chassis will be rider forward. It's basic engineering, put the rider at the pivot point of the sled (the center) and they would, in an ideal situation, be isolated from the impacts. On the M-series you sit more towards the rear of the machine so you "feel" more of the bumps on the trail. Just a thought. I think next year (2012) Cat will have a sled that will combine the easy handling of the M-chassis, be more rider-forward, drop a few pounds and completely dominate the mountain market in all aspects of riding. Ski-Doo has opened the door for them to take over the mountains and I hope they take advantage of the opportunity.
