Ok here is the delema I have. My dealer has 2 snow check machines that someone backed out on. One is a 2011 RMK pro 155 silver/black the other one is a 2011 Assualt silver/black in a 155. only a 200 dolllar diff.
Now the only difference I can see is the track of coarse. (Heavier)The paint on the Pro rmk is more like a auto paint finish and the assualt has a rough texture on the pannels. Which i think i like more than the painted pannels. (less scratching) The assualt has the xtra idler wheels on the track and has the heavy duty shocks..
My next question is how does that track work in the lighter/powder snow. Looks like the same track on the 09/10 assualts by the way. And are the piggy back shocks more ridged and stiffer. I like to do more boondocken and don't want a stiff heavy shock.
So any advice would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks..

Well It is amazing what you can fine after doing a search.. I found another post on this and think I got what i needed.. But feel free to add to it if you want..

If you are a boondocker get the Pro. If you like to (like REALLY ENJOY) to air out the sled go with the Assault.

I have a 2009 Assault and I HONESTLY think the problem with the track is that it is a 146" compared to 155". I really think the new Assault with the 155" comp track will do just fine. Yes it will trench a little more but nothing some setup and throttle control won't fix. The 5.1 on the Pro is soft and great for soft snow but once it sets up, it really sucks and throttle control won't help you much there.

Just my 2 cents.

The assault has a wider ski stance which will also affect your sidehilling and boondocking capabilities. The assault weighs a bit more, too.

True, but I think the sidehilling won't be a big deal if Polaris valved these shocks properly. The last edition of Assault had WAY too stiff of shocks on them.

That is one of things that they advertise on the Assault. Stiffer suspension, made for big cornice drops.

Yeah, I'm aware of that but at least on my 2009, I have done some pretty large drops and I NEVER adjusted my shocks any heavier than the lighest position. I rode late into the Spring with some very hard snow, making jump, dropping cornice's and they were still too stiff IMHO. If they valved them a little lighter (like say Carl's does) you could use the lightest setting for deep powder and then crank them up in the spring for those big drops.

I think Polaris knew they were valved wrong, which is part of the reason they changed them in 2010. The other being because of the race department needing to be able to change the coils out and in order to race in the stock class and be able to make spring changes.
