2011 pro won't idle or go into reverse?

My sled is bone stock has 1550 miles on it just started not wanting to idle or go into reverse I'm guessing the two are connected I'm going to change plugs and fuel filter and see if it fixes the problem hopefully as the sled still pulls hard and has great throttle response any input would be great braaaaaap on:)

Something simple to play with/check is the throttle cable slack.
The adjuster in front of the bars under the rubber sleeve.

Mine had a low idle, and hard starting (2-3 pulls).
It seemed to be engaging the TSS...yet another feature that only causes problems on this sled.
I adjusted it while engine was idling to get it corrected.

Change your spark plug boots (resistors) my assault had a misfire and would only idle at 1000-1300 rpm and I changed the boots and put new plugs in and it's been fine since

Bad idle and not going into reverse many times indicate pistons or rings going down, if under warrenty, get it to dealer and have them ck piston scuff, etc.
If not under warrenty, dont ride, remove top end and and put in a slp, rk or another drop in kit. Research them.
I have had over 4 800 motors go down directly after the same condition you stated, could be something else but study up and save youself some headaches.

2010 assault idles and runs fine back in duluth mn, but every time out west idles way low. brand new short block after last season, but still does it.... any ideas?

:face-icon-small-fro My 2009 700 did the same thing, turned out that one of my cylinders was down too 75# compression. they said it was caused by a cold burn down.

Mine did the same thing, but I do have much less miles. Unplugged the TPS main connection and let it dry off for a few day in my heated garage. Put it back together with dielectric grease, taped/sealed it up good and it's ran good for the past few rides now!

Thanks guys don't think it's week compression still out pulls everyone I'm gonna put some new plugs in it and check the spark plug boots I took it all apart and there was nothing visually wrong my primary spring had some weird wear on it and looked like it was slightly bent ? I'll keep ya posted I have almost 20 rides this year and this year 1800 miles of extreme mountain riding and only 1 belt I love my pro my spare is a dayco 5020 they say I have to adjust the deflection for it to fit properly:( has anyone else experienced this

Well I guess I'll do a compression check sled does not idel at all still puls 8300 rpm mid throttle seems groggy changed plugs today they'd looked used but no sign of a lien run tried the slack adjustment did nothing it's still underwarantey I sure hope this goes well

Any update on what the cause was?

My sled is doing the same thing. Sled won't idle or go into reverse. The check engine light comes on right before it dies when I try to let it idle. Otherwise the sled runs awesome when pulling a hill.

Adjust the idle up then reset the tps, if it still doesnt idle or reverse function doesnt work check the compression. Once the engine is a bit warm the sled may not have enough compression to idle let alone restart after the reverse function.

Like winter brew also said the belt may be to tight. Also check the throttle safety switch,it can do some wierd stuff.
