2011 Pro vs. 2012 RMK STD?

i would go with the pro... the 2011 RMKs lost thier value pretty quick, you can pick up a fall model for in the low 8's now. Shocks are expensive. I'd go with the 11 Pro. my .02

The 11 rmk's were not in the pro chassis, that is the problem there.
I would go for the 12 rmk.

Do you prefer the better shocks and pro handle bars or normal bars with controls on handle bars

Well, I've never tried the better shocks. I have tried the Ryde FX that comes spec'd on the RMK version and I'm pleased with the performance. They get the job done just fine.

I like the Pro bars and controls mounted on the console better, but again, not exactly a deal breaker there.

Some of the less obvious changes just from being a year newer could possibly help with the decision though? I heard the tunnel was strengthened for 2012? Motor mounts are more rigid? Different injector assembly or something? (Could be wrong on these, but I think I recall reading about that stuff)

And then in favor of the Pro... the hollow jackshaft. Would a couple pounds of rotating mass make a big difference? I'm thinking it could possibly be noticeable.... maybe not though.

Not sure that's correct. The standard RMK (2011) in the new chassis had the red hood (top section) and the big differences were shocks, bars, and non- lightweight jackshaft. I would go with the 2011 Pro if it were me and not buy a bunch of aftermarket stuff to achieve the same results that are standard on the Pro model.

I must be wrong, I thought the standard rmk was still the old chassis.
I however am new to polaris. I would take one of those fall models for 8 if that is the case.

The standard has one more heat exchanger, so if you ride alot of hard snow you won't have a cooling issue.

If it was me I would go with the 12 with the diffrent injectors. Or I guess you could buy the upgrade for the 11. But new sounds better to me.

Both new with 2 year warranty. Both 155" track. Same OTD price. Any opinions on which might be a better buy?

Compare them at he PSN web site, I did 9 lbs difference.

Very similar all the way around, new model is better in this case because of the upgrades noted above. I like the controls on the bars and the front heater, I trail ride allot and the front cooler is nice but the scratchers work so no big deal for me.
I snowcheked a pro and love it. But I like a warmer thumb than hand so may be changing this one little thing. It was not a deal breaker for me either.
