2011 800 CFI engine real information needed

Again not compliant as they have not released this sled in a version that is compliant. If they don't have it calibrated then all of you that have rode them are not going to get what you tested. Also this 110000 miles of testing and not on what will be available to the public. We all know that a PCV fixed their issues in the past but for a mfg to release a motor and diffrent fuel mapping it needs to be emissions compliant whether new or updated programing. So in reality you will be the guinea pig just like you were when they have updated all of the past 800's.

Again a SDI will be hard to get compliant for 2012 but of course they can release this motor for next year with no issues. Polaris is in a hell of a better position than AC. IF Poo really had this ready for 2012 it would not be a secret and only reported by a super duper moderator.

That's a lot of conclusions from no factual info. It's just as likely that the engine meets EPA and is simply waiting for certification. Polaris has the emission testing equipment and standards so they know before submitting if an engine is compliant.

I was told this weekend at West Yellowstone Expo that they used the same mapping on all the demo rides and that is the same mapping they have in to EPA. The map they used for the demo sleds is the same that is supposed to be in the production sleds.

You have it backwards. MountainHorse's work in this industry PRECEEDS his job here as a moderator. They have NOTHING to do with each other. You don't know what you are talking about do you?

Two ring pistons have been retained, and compression has been bumped just a tad.... Polaris has been at work on this motor and new injection system for a while now.
The compression has been bumped down, It is now 104, It was put down for reliability and warranty reasons, They said it had the same power as last year? with less compression? I was told around 145 hp. with a richer mid range that took hp down in the midrange.:face-icon-small-fro

GangGreen, "Cat" guy, what Cat dealer did you get this 104 psi compression and 145 HP from???
I believe MountainHorse's posts over your brief post with no source for your info!!!

Several of my brother's good factory Polaris racing friends told him that the 2011 800 Rush is an awesome sled.
It has the most reliable 800cc engine that Polaris has ever produced!!!
The 800 Rush owners will not be disappointed with the "NEW" 800 CFI-2 engine, it will be a very fast sled!!!
Have a great summer; Rich

I or we understand not stating HP no's., but come on give us some reason, to understand why the power is even back to the first 08 no's we were given. I for one am sitting here, trying to make a decision. The weight drop and the other changes, plus no bad imput on the ride or handling (all positve), give's us a reason to want it, but not enough to forget the problems of the engine over the last three yrs. The weight alone won't make up, if were under powered. We all know that the new ride with that much weight drop, will act like new power, wether it has the power or not. We all know the compression has been lowered, and program fattened up, which equals less ponies. Help us nonbelievers out, we can't ride it and compare. JUST wanting answers.---Thanks

I agree. Trying to decide between M8(reliability + 160 horsepower) Vs. Pro RMK
with questionable motor, questionable HP but much lighter weight. I'm a Polaris
guy but I just grenaded another motor this past weekend and had to get towed
40 miles. Even with a 4 year warranty I just can't decide if its worth the headache worrying when and where this machine might break down next.

This is where I am sitting as well. As good as the new Polaris sounds, I would be coming off an M1000 which has about 170 hp. To go back to 145 would be a step backwards. At 155 hp I would pull the trigger. 145 hp means I would have to spend another grand on pipe, pcv, etc. I'll keep the 1000.

On the bold, I'm not buying into a richer programming to make the CFI-2 run better. I'm not dissin' you but the only spot it feels and sounds richer is between 4000 and 4500 rpms at about 8500-10,000 feet in my short jaunt on the new buggy.

MH... with the FPR now on the rail, how can a person adjust the fuel pressure? or even set up a gauge to check it? I am assuming there is no plumbing after that?

I am sure there is a way around it, but how?

I am just thinking of the turbo/controller apps, where they are setting fuel pressure. Maybe it is just as simple as setting up the controller for that pressure... or changing pressure before it gets that far.

The way I read it the Compression was bumped up not down.... and with different port timing... that means flow or (lack of).
With different port timing means a totally different way to map the fuel for the engine.

Can-bus electronics mean a quicker more efficient way for the sensors to respond to inputs.
Fuel pressure regulators are usually easily adjustable.

I am sure there will be a port access to check fuel pressure.... so once it is adjusted and set your good to go.

boon docker

If you guys really want to know about this motor just call up boondocker.
I talked to them last week when i was order an new race gas turbo for a 09 d8 and dan over there said they have 2 of them on the hill climbing at jackson last weekend. Prototype sleds not exact but they said they will have a turbo out for it when it comes out. SO ask them about durabitlity and how it is holding up.

I was refuring to the 09 and the 10 not the 2011, have not got to ride it. The 2011 engine is what I need firm info on. Sorry for not being more clear. Thanks

Those were actually Rush longtrack mods with 2010 800 CFi-4's in them.

I was there and talked to Jared for a while.

More info filtering in.

Crankshaft same part number as 2008-10
Exhaust valve assys same as the 2008-10 800 CFi's (2011 runs orange spring)
Pistons different from 2010
Cyl head Same as 2010
Cylinder monoblock.. new for 2011
Crankcase... new for 2011
Reed blocks... same from 2005 900 thru 2011 (reed stuffers are different)
Throttle body boots... same as the 2010 600 CFi 2+2 (Rush)
All new motor mounting system
All new engine torque arm assy

New for 2011 oil pump ... rod linkage type (not cable)
Notice the single cable to the TB's

Same water pump as previous CFi small blocks

Injectors.... all new CFi-2 injector (Bosch I believe).. on a common rail with twin rail mounted Fuel Pressure Regulators (FPR) running at 4 bar (58 psi) ... FPR is no longer in tank. Very similar Pump/Flange assy in tank as 2010, minus the regulator.

Mountain of info, very instructive. Thanks to eveyone that posted this info. As I read down this tread, Ive came to the 1 yr. motor, How many of you will by pass the 2011 because of this? Or will they end up keeping this motor for 2012 as well, I'm sure that the 2011 motor would have good emisions for at least 2 yrs.
