2010 Polaris 700 RMK / Its BACK

I can't believe that they'd even consider getting rid of what is likely the most reliable 2 stroke motor on the market, that thing is bombproof.

In market for 700 RMK - 07'-10'

Gents,

I am in the market for an IQ based 700 RMK. I prefer the 155' length and it does not need to be a Dragon.

I would appreciate any insights and recommendations on which year to target. I am okay with an 07' or 08' with low miles as 09'-10' are at $7900 - $9000 +TTL here in Minnesota. I currently ride an Edge based 700 RMK.

I rode an 07' Dragon in ID in 07' and it seems strong although it seemed to have a slight bog when hitting the throttle hard initially. I noticed the gas tank changed capacity from 07' and the 700 RMK is still ~15 lbs heavier than the 800 RMK...?

thanks for your respones

The 700 RMK is an amazing sled!!! my dad just bought a new one last year and it is awesome!! The reason he went with the 700 was purely because of the reliability issues with the 800s. I just sold my 2001 rmk 700 and it was an amazing machine very powerful, and reliable truely a pull and go sled, it had 3000 miles on it and had never been worked on really.

Polaris made a very smart decision to keep the 700 for '10. Rliable power beats 13 more horsepower in a machine that burns down!!

PS does any one know if the 09 700's had a 2ring piston design or were they a one ringer like the 800's???

The difference between the 07 and the 08 is large, it is worth going to the 08, the 09 is pretty much the same sled little lighter, different sway arm, different rails. If you don't like the WE shocks go with the production models not the snow check. We have had 4 of those sleds form 07 to 09 real happy with all of them you can't really go wrong with any of them.

Just my two penny's

explination please? What are the "large differences"

What are the solid differences between the 07' and 08 700 RMK ? Also what can a guy add to them to make them have more balls down low...the ones I rode were wind up toys similar to the M7 no low end grunt.....a single pipe, head and porting......would this give up reliability and how much would you gain? suggestions to get to the 155-60 H.p. mark...are they dependable modded?

One major difference from 07 to 08 is the track. It is the same lug height of 2.4" but the 08 and newer has 19% more paddles (contact) with the snow.
So overall a much better track.

FWIW my local Poo mechanic says the '10 700 RMK is the same sled as the 09 with different graphics.

I ride an Edge 700 and will buy an 09/10 700 as soon as I get a job

Best powerplant Polaris ever built

Polaris Dropped the 700 Dragon 155 ( great sled ) then brought back a watered down version the RMK at the last second this year. They are still battling Fuel injector EPA issues ( 800 Dragon Piston burners) .
I wish the would stay with something that works so they could get the reputation back. 07 700 Dragon.

What kind of idiots work for this company ?

Comments I asure I will get some.

Heck ur better off buying the RMK anyway, ur just going to throw out the heavy stock suspention with the WE shocks, so why spend more? I did my wifes 09 700 with the holtz front and rear and clutch/gearing change. Just a fantactic sled !! Polaris should take the 700 engineslad on a cylinder and make it a triple for 1050 and that would be a GREAT motor...lol

Great idea. I love both of my '07s. They both have over 3500 mi and run great. I think I'm going to keep these things around rather than buy a new sled anytime soon. Once the motor goes on the RMK, I'm thinking it's 770 time. :)

I have an 07 D7 155. As I recall a couple of years back they had a recall related to an O2 sensor or something that was causing the low-end bogging as you describe it. We had the update done sometime in 2008 which completely solved the problem. Great sled, I would highly recommend it.

What Polaris needs to do is fire all their bean counters and marketers and just let their engineers rate the sleds.

I don't give a flying f*ck if My 800 Dragon is advertised at 148hp, 150 hp, or 155hp as long as the f*cking thing isn't burning pistons.

I can make up that 7 horsepower or whatever it is with a proper fuel map pretty easily and some porting pretty easily.

If they are that ansi to make big power with these sleds they SHOULD HAVE designed a decent bottom end and motor mount system for the 900 motors they already had built and de-rated those a bit ....

Stupid.

I must be the odd one out then. I sold my 08 700 mainly because the power sucked. No fun factor and no comparison to an 800. As for reliability it would have broke a piston in future due to excessive piston to wall clearance. I noticed it during a "warranty nearly up check over" and had the cylinder and pistons changed. Loved the BB 700's however!

Funny .. what I love about my 07 700 155 Dragon is just taking it out and putting a beating on most 8's everywhere no matter if its a flat out drag or who can get to high places in the deep...:D

had an 08 700 155 slp pipe and can. A couple of vents ran good only blew up one belt but it was a cheap belt. NOw got a 010 700 rmk and havent rode it yet but im so glad i didn't get the 800 still alot of problems. Kept my pipe and put same vents. Plan on keeping this until warranty is up in 3 years then turbo.

If mine was like that I might have kept it. It was like a competent running 600. The strong 6's and the especially the nytro would smoke it in drags. In the deep powder 800's would just run away. All the electronics checked out and tried different clutching, gearing and fuel controller. Just poor power.
It also trenched bad although now I realize it may be the way I ride it being a mountain newbie.
