2010 M8ho with SLP single

I'm running the slp single with the powercommander box and their preset program.
I keep getting the octane code on long deep pulls and the motor detunes itself. I'm running 91 octane fuel with the lucas octane booster.

SLP says that it is one of my sensors, of which I've swapped all of them out and still get the code.

I told SLP that the sled obviously needs fuel up top as their preset program is -5 at 8k rpm 8250 rpm 8500 rpm. They say no, I'm wrong.
I did add fuel to +5 in these ranges, and +2 at 80% throttle in these ranges.
The sled runs better and hasn't thrown the octane code in 3 rides, and on the last ride it threw the code while making a full pull on the road back to the parking lot.

I find it odd that I'm going to be adding even more fuel, probably 15 points above their tested preset program.

Anybody else runnng this setup? Whats your experience?

I was speaking with Kelsey at RKtek about a month ago, as I thought the mapping on these sleds stock was great. At low elevation I hit 8200 RPM with stock low elevation clutching and it is perfect for me, but according to Kelsey these things are Pig Rich at higher RPM's and some of his guys could only muster 7800 RPM at elevation w/o a programmer to lean it out.

In my mind running 91 octane you should not have to add anything like a Lucas fuel additive, especially since it is supposedly mapped for 91 octane. If it still trips with 91 octane and an additive there must be a mapping issue. Do you think that the additive might be causing issues as well?

I ran the slp pipe and stock fuel map and still got the octane code and a detune.
It used to take 2 good long pulls and on the 3rd of 4th it would flash ocatane and go into limp mode.
After I added fuel it stopped doing this except the 1 time on the road.

are you guys feeling any more power and how much more weight are you pulling???????? yes I think mine is rich on topend stock

Im running 67# up over 10k elev and pulling anywhere from 8000-8200 rpm.

7-9k I rev at 8300 easy with the 67#. I was thinking that if my tach was off, I could be bouncing off the rev limiter.

Not a huge hp difference with the pipe, but the combo of the weight/hp makes it a very capable machine. In fact it runs right with my Ported/Piped lightweight Powderclawed 08 m8 which runs with SLP packaged M1k's.

My 2010 was rich up top stock but not pig rich like my 07 and 08 ( 5000 to 7000 ft).

After installing SLP pipe and programmer I had huge bog issues and top end was just as rich ( plugs and wash readings). I engage at 3200 and had no issues reaching top rpm or any deto issues ( D&D white, 135-335; 70 cat weights; 36 helix, tortional conversion, Rkt dual spring, nice addition for those that havent tried it).

As per instructions (which I assume you have done dmkhnr) I aligned the throttle position sensor to their PC5 map. It cleaned up the top end some and still no det problems but the bogs were worse.
I eliminated their accel feature (cause it was to sensitive) and tuned out the bogs on the stand in the shop (tough to ride with a laptop LOL). I had to add large percentages at light throttle positions ( 2, 5, 10, and 20 percent throttle ranges, in the 10 to 24 percent fuel added ranges) and a bit at 0 pecent to get it to idle and start. I attributed this to the fact that I must be loading the motor more than the SLP clutching does and I still need more in midrange.

Moral of the story, nobody can set-up a perfect program for you unless you follow their clutch set-up and ride like them. The PC5 program display on the puter is great to work with in the shop but useless in the hills. Tune your sled for you. If you need more fuel add it. That pipe and silencer combo flows a heck of a lot more air and if you load the motor it will need more fuel. Cat added a very restrictive silencer and high engagement to allow the motor to be leaned out and still run to pass EPA stuff.

Adding fuel sure showed me how strong and torquey a motor Suzuki actually built.

I have a program installed on my Boony Box ( thanks fast gas). 6 throttle positions 13 rpm ranges. Might not get to tune it cause of hero snow but if I do it will take a lot less time (cause I can do it up on the snow not on the stand in the shop LOL).

Dmkhnr, keep adding fuel till it runs right for your sled.

Ya, I aligned the throttle position.

I too am frustrated with the pc box though I like the computer program, and ability to read and change the variety of throttle/fuel positions. It is a shame that it can't be tuned in the field.
I have a bog down low which seems lean to me and will work it out after I get ahold on the top end.

I've had my share of problems with the boonbox, but at least adjustments can be made during the riding day.

Im running 67# up over 10k elev and pulling anywhere from 8000-8200 rpm.

what primary spring are you running? mine is a 130-340(i think) and im running 62 grams at 10K.....my 2010 M8 is bone stock except clutching

stock spring was 160-290 i think, way too harsh of any engagement for my liking....and the 290 could not maintain peak RPMs in powder

stock was a 68 grams and i only got 7900ish RPM

trimmed weight 3 times and down to 62 grams to get 8250ishRPM at 10K elevation......i know this sounds crazy

SLP blue/pink 140/340.
The black/or wasn't enough finish to hold the 8k+ r's at 7-10k. I was able to run 67# with this spring and stock pipe. Now with the pipe, I could bump my primary to 68#+ at 7-9k. The 67# are dead on above 10k.

I have the blue/pink and slp can and I get 8250 every time @ 7-9k. it didnt do that stock, I have a set of 68 gram adjustables I need to install but don't have the tools for shimming the spider.

although I dont run a m8, my m1000 with slp setup and pcIII I am running a lot more fuel up top(46psi, up 3-4% Hi range on PCIII and +5 on bd box at 72-7800rpm Hi). with just there map it would studder at wot. The first m1000 I had burned down with slps recommendations, before I knew what I was doing. Now I run egts stock, get the readings and set it up to run the same and it rips when I hit the same as stock egts. The other thing is with the PCIII one cylinder is 75* hotter than the other and I had to add +3 trim, on bd box from 72-7800rpm to get them within 25*. So you could have one cylinder throwing the det. code. I've also noticed if your not in the slp recommended rpm it will throw everything off bad.
If it where me i wouldn't waste money on lucas anything, try it without it.
