2010 Ford F150 or 2010 GMC 1500

Hey Guys

I'm looking at getting a new pickup and can't decide between these two. Does anybody have reviews of either vehicle? The Ford has the 5.4 and the GMC has the 5.3. How is the pulling power? Fuel mileage compared to what EPA says? Any other things you like or dislike about the truck.

I've always thought I would get a GMC but I'm really considering the Ford. I can get a Ford Lariat crew cab (leather, chrome package) for a little under 34K and a GMC crew with cloth and no extra goodies for 33K.

Thanks!

I really like my 2008 GMC 5.3 with 3.73 gears, pulls a 4 place snowmobile trailer no problem...12-13 MPG pulling in overdrive. No load it gets 18-20MPG on the highway.
Dislikes: Torque management & AFM at certain speeds, but a custom tune can elimate both!

Ford, my sister in-law has one. A sweet truck for running around and still has good power for towing or hauling a lot of stuff. She claims 18-20 on the highway doing 110 km's.

Easy for me - Chevy.

Don't get the 5.4, it's a little bit of a slug. I'm sure that will piss someone off, but the 5.3 is a better motor. Sounds like the 5.4 is dying. New Mustang has a 5.0 now. The new 6.2 Ford sounds like the real deal though.

The 2010 Fords have a quiet cab, but still accelerate like a loaded dump truck and get 12 mpg when driven normally.

I'd get the Ford over the chevy, nice truck's! I however bought the new dodge 1500 crew over the ford though. Each to their own

Chevy... You cant compare a ford or a dodge to the Chevy ride, smooth and comfortable. The ford 5.4 is junk no power and the gas mileage is terrible.
Dodge has great motors, but there mileage is junk, and you will be peeing blood if you are on a rough road.
Cant go wrong with the Chevy if you can afford the price.....

You must not have drove an 09 or newer ram 1500. They're the best driving truck in there class with the coilover rear suspension by far. But this tread is not about Dodge sorry. ^^^ that's just way off

wow you obviously havent driven a f-150 lately I have a 09 supercrew 15 to 16 mpg with a 6inch lift..35's t and this is going 75 down the hwy!the digital milage gauge says around 14 (off due to tire size diffrence).but penciled out its around 15.5ish...
GMC/CHEVY is currently going around and cancelling contracts with Providers/companys in the USA (causing huge layoffs)and going with the cheaper overseas parts ect..(China) yes its real folks we the tax payers of the United States are paying taxes and bailing out companys GMC/CHEVY so they can purchase cheaper parts ect. from other countrys!!!:face-icon-small-dis unfkn belivable..!!!! and what about the dealerships that GMC/CHEVY pulled out from underneath them..??? people soon forget..so buy a GMC/CHEVY and pay for it twice once in your taxes and once for the vehicle itself!!
sorry justmy2cents..:face-icon-small-hap

PS: I sold my chevy to buy a FORD!

The 09-10 supercrews get excellent mileage. Plus that engine is strong with 6 speed tranny. I got almost 300 000km on my 02 supercrew with the 5.4L.Truck has been driven hard and still has no rattles.

IMO 5.3L Chevy is a MUCH nicer motor than the Ford's 5.4L, and it's planted in a nice truck. BUT the draw to the Ford is more options at a lower price point....if you like all the toys and the truck drives good, sounds like you've made up your mind. If you've justified that you like the GM more and that it's worth a few extra bucks, sounds like you've made up your mind that way.

If you can't decide, I'd skip both and get a Tundra....can't go wrong there.

I wouldn't get hung up on fuel mileage. You will get a million different answers to the same questions. In the real world, all the newer V8 4x4 1/2 tons are close enough that it will depend more on the driver than the badge on the front....

It depends? Do you support a company that went bankrupt and took your money to keep alive? There is a reason why they went bankrupt.

Honestly though the Ford is by far a better truck all around. First of all the build quality is far far superior. The ride IMO is better especially in the 09-10, plus the new ones have a six speed transmission. The fuel mileage is better, especially in the new ones as well. I am in the car business and have driven all trucks, and a true test is how they drive used. Chevy's/GMC's have rattles small stuff broken etc only being a year old.

But you dont have to listen to me go drive them both. Make sure you knock on the gmc's rubbermaid plasic dash to see how quality that sounds.

Where are you guys finding fords cheaper then chevy? Every place I've seen the fords are 3-4 grand more then the chevy for the same options yet the Fords are selling and the chevies are collecting dust.

The 5.4 is a great towing engine with lots of low end grunt. Ford didn't make their truck to be a highway truck with a ton of high end power. They built it for work.

My 2007 Chevy is still getting 20 doing 75 to 80 on the highway, I have never heard of a Ford doing that.... And by the way if you have forgot Ford also pulled dealerships out from under it supporters "Big Sky Motors in Dillon MT for one".
And My comment about the Dodge ride is from my 2002 Cummings I know the gas rides are better but that Cummings was terrible. But I did love the motor....

A FAR BETTER TRUCK, HAHAHA you must not have driven a Chevy...............

I've driven both extensively thank you!

I don't dislike the chevy's/gmc its a nice truck and good motor, its just the ford is better all around truck. You can just tell by walking around them, leaf spring thickness, size of bolts, oil lines, metal thickness, tailgate thickness, etc. Its too easy to find stuff.

I have too many direct comparison stories but I'm not gonna bore you with those
