M7 if you dont have anything reasonable or intellectual to add to this conversation BEAT IT! This guy started this thread to find out info and you obviously have nothing legitimate to add, so why even bother posting? Just to rustle feathers? Ya see, this is the type of BS and nuissances I was hoping we'd be able to avoid by going to a paysite.

I agree with you on M7 being an azzhat, but sadly there is no benefit to us for paying.

I can't wait to get my D8 back on the snow since it has a new ECU.

Sir you don't know half of what is going on out here with the 800 CFI motor. Maybe you should give him your Polaris so the guy does not have to ride his wifes old but reliable 700 and leave her at home because he is on his 5th, 6th or 7th motor between his 09 Assult and his new and improved 10 ASSult. I was hoping that the 10 800 CFI motor would work correctly and the guy can go riding with us and not be in the shop every other week with a blown motor. WHY DID THIS MOTOR BLOW UP? And if you poo guys (like the dealer is saying) say it blew up from the PC5, fuel or a few air vents you need to BEAT IT !!!!!

You're correct, I dont know half of it. But I will say this: If this poor guy is on his SEVENTH motor then there is a hell of a lot more going on there than just a problem with polaris' product! There is most defenitely a problem here but I'd maybe take a closer look at who is performing the maintenance on this machine (dealer) or something, i dont know. But no one could possibly be that unlucky!! I dont post on here a lot but I do read here a lot (boring job lol) and I can tell you every guy who has had serious problems with their 800's and I sympathize with them, A LOT! But seven motors in two years? Id really like the thread starter to chime in and tell us the whole story, not that Im calling you a liar, I just find it so unbelieveable.

Sir I can not keep track of all the 800 CFI motors that have gone down between me and my friends I ride with here in the Colorado Rockies. I have talked with guys who said it went down while the dealer was loading it on the trailer WTF. And if you think I am lying thats your oppinion and also if you think its about luck you should also be the CEO of Polaris because that is their exact position. UNLUCKY?????? What does that mean to you?. Is the guy unlucky because he works extremely hard to have extra money and time to enjoy our sport??? The dealer is telling potential new customers that there is a group of riders out here that ride way to hard and over modify their engines, and thats why they are having problems. SLP AIR CONE, over modified. SLP air intake, over modified. Side air Panels, over modified. PC5, over modified. I guess I have a different oppinion on over modified. The CAT turbo 1200 I rode a few years ago, now thats over modified and I bet it is still running fine today. So in my oppinion we ride way too hard out here than anyone else in the world and I am VERY LUCKY for that.

Sounds to me like you need to find yourself a new dealer. You CAN flash back to the earliest map you motor will allow... meaning if you have a 2009, got the 2010 update, you CANNOT flash back to original 2009 mapping, it is locked. If you got the Jan flash, you CAN flash back to original 2010 mapping. I don't think SLP stuff qualifies as overmodification either, I mean they sold the stuff off the assembly line with it! Yes there are many issues with 800 CFIs, hence all the threads about them... But these threads are meant to help people figure out and try to fix the issues because some dealers are not as helpful and it is difficult to find some information on your own. All CHAMPYFZ450 was saying IMO is that if you are not helping you're hurting. If you want to complain about the 800s and how upset you are at Polaris there is another thread out there somewhere that you can do that... so feel free. As far as luck goes, well there is probably a small portion of luck involved with getting these things dialed in because everyone's seems to be different so you need to find what works for yours. Granted its not something we should need to be doing, but we do, so get over it.

And as far as this 2010 Assault goes I find it strange too that the DET sensor wasn't noticing a lean burn down, maybe the Jan map desensitized it too much? Otherwise like someone else said on here, maybe an oil issue, maybe something to do with coolant? Need some more info from SLEDSNOWCO to help people help him. How was it running before the day it wouldn't tach out... ect... ?

Geez u dont get it do you? Im not calling you a liar! Im saying it has absolutely nothing to do with luck! that why I said "no one could be that unlucky"! There is a serious problem with the person who is selling you these sleds! Talk to anyone who bought one from Carls, or TCP, or anyother reputable dealer and they will tell you that they have had minimal problems, but nothing as widespread as it seems to be in your area that buy from your particular dealer. Im with you here man and believe you, theres a problem with these sleds but MY PERSONAL OPINION is that theres something going on in particular areas! People who have had trouble with theirs say that X # of people that they know have lost 2,3,4 engines all in their area. Then theres the people (myself included) who have not had any probs and have not heard of any engine failures in their area. Im not trying to pick a fight here, Im trying to make sense of whats going on with these machines just like everyone else on here.

I guess you don't get it. These statements are not lies, they are called facts. There is proof to a fact and there is alot of it out here. I suggest you do some searching on this site and find out what has been going on for 2 years now with the 800 CFI motor before you jump into a discussion you have no idea about because you have Polaris blood cells. A fact is a fact period.

Other questions like; stock pipe or SLP? ethanol fuel? ethanol wires plugged in or not? Was the map really loaded in the PC V or just plugged in with no map? TPS synched in the PC V? Drive clutch ok? drive spring ok? Do a water or alcohol test on your fuel?

With how rich the the SLP map is on the low end, I find it odd that both cylinders were affected. I also find it odd that instead of throwing on a new belt, inspecting a clutch roller, pulling a plug or stuffing a light in a cylinder that is becoming the norm to run home and post it on the internet first.

Go cry somewhere else, no one here wants to read about your little rant about polaris, espically comin from a guy who rides a cat, when is cat going to come out with a new model? oh wait they like the old $hit cause there broke and have no money to come out with a new model they spent all there money on the new 800 they have. i know a dealer in wy im good friends with and they sold alot of 2010 8's and have only seen 1 go down to poor fuel (farmer) and had nothin to do with polaris's 800. I think your friend needs to find a new dealer if the assult keeps goin down cause the 2010 are holding up.

Im the furthest from brand loyal as it gets. I cant even believe im getting into this with you, youve proven with the posts youve made that youre a complete *** and Im sure the other readers will have to agree after reading our little conversation. FACT OF THE MATTER IS, YOUVE BROUGHT NOTHING TO AN OTHERWISE GOOD DISCUSSION BUT NEGATIVITY AND FOOLISHNESS. Damn the more I reread our posts the more amazed I am by how much of an a-hole youre being. Im done helping you turn this thread to chit so flame away. Sorry to the other readers on here who had to read though this uselessness to find worthwhile information.

agreed

If your state has a lemon law, then I would think if you have your sled repaired for the same thing numerous times, you could go that route. Just thinking. Like lots of others I love how the IQ Raw chassis handles so we don't want to abandon the platform (why else would some of these guys with multiple failures put up with it and not just sell it off), but in the case of multiple failures, if I had multiple failures, I would look into the lemon law and get a newer / different model sled.

However, once you start crossing the line into major mods (hard to define I know), you can't expect the factory to be accountable for which fuel map you installed yourself on your aftermarket controller with your aftermarket pipe and intake system, and if it did lean it out too much, that is your responsibility... just like in the "old" days with carbs. Jet it down too tight and squeak a piston, don't cry to your dealer... not saying that happened here, but everyone has to take responsibility for what they do to their sled.

If there is the POSSIBILITY that it is your fault via fuel map or jetting or whatever, then if you have a good dealer, then work with them. If they want you to buy again they will give you the benefit of the doubt. But at this point it sounds like Polaris (factory) is clamping down tight on warrantying sleds with any mods. Once it is past warranty, mod to your hearts content, and take your lumps.

Just throwing in my 2 cents.

WTF is this sled actually blown up. Having a low compression reading could be just the guage because both cylinders are the same. You need to know what happened to the pistons in order to figure out what actually happened in the engine if it is fact blown up.

:nono: Guys guys guys. Ok, everyone take a deep breath. Good thing I broke an A-arm. Lol
I understand completely the frustration some of you have with these sleds and with Polaris. There are some enherent problems with the 800 motor and unfortunately they are not going to be fixed by taking it to your dealer.
As for dealers, there are some that do seem to get special treatment from Polaris themselves. Others are often left out of the loop.
But, lets talk more about fuel since some of you seem to think this is related to certain areas or dealers.
Despite what we have been told, ethanol will separate from the fuel. A local station tested theirs and found that due to separation you were pumping almost 50/50. Not to many vehicles can handle that! And with alcohol you have to worry about water :tea: I added a water absorbing device to the tank just in case.
You almost need to go out of your way with these sleds. Take extra precautions to ensure proper cooling and fuel delivery. Let us know what the dealer has to say about why it went down.

hey guys, sledsnowco here.Took my sled to glenwoodsprings,co polaris and they said there nothing they could do for me.Service manager was a total dickhead. He said i have to many mods on it.All i have is a intake vent from xxxmod rods.It a 2010 assault with 800 miles and the top end is blown, and theres nothing they can do for me.I cant even beleive they would turn away a customer on a warrenty issue.Never again will i go there

i think its time for you to find a new dealer, a dealer that turns a paying customer away shouldnt even be in business...
