2010-2011 Tumbler Ridge Snow Conditions

Probably be heading up the 28th if there's enough snow. Working on the Heritage now and it's snowing steady. Slow but constant

Sweet. Make sure to take pics. I am sure hoping I can go up there then too. If not this weekend (for a test ride even). We'll see...

Nov 20th

Rode the bullmoose road today, the deepest snow was 20'' at best. Was still a good road ride to play with the new turbo. Ran into the some guys from Northgate in G.P. They had a Cutler 1300 out and it looks like it's gonna rip.:face-icon-small-coo

I got an update for ya. Me and a buddy went to Holsworth past Bullmoose this weekend. The snow in that area blows but we found this one spot that had waist-deep snow and burned a 1/2 tank there. It was so wicked with no worry about catching bottom or anything - full-out winter sledding. Didn't leave much pow for anyone else though I'm afraid! :face-icon-small-ton It definitely needs a few more weeks for good snow to be plentiful. Snow already......

Here's a few pics of the better spots. and man were we rusty for most of the day. Not to mention first ride on my new sled not helping things. Good first ride.

How do you get to Holsworth?? We were supposed to head up to Core Lodge the 28th but a few buddies said it wasn't worth the trip. Looks good enough to me in the pics. We're heading up wednesday

Would you be able to help me out and tell me whereabouts you found enough snow to ride? I am thinking about heading out there this weekend! This will be the first ride of the season and I am hoping to find some fresh Pow. :D

Thanks

Sorry Pinko, guess I missed ya. Jamielee, if you do go there, you should take a few pics so we can see the progress. Would be much appreciated. To get to Holsworth, you go the Bullmoose mine, unload at the transformer station just before the mine entrance on the left.

You follow the forestry road (this is the Windfall Creek road) there and keep right at the first fork. You will cross several bridges an at each you will stay right if presented with any more corners. At about 14 or 15km and just after a bridge and a few sharper turns in teh road you will see a small trail going off to the left. This is hard to see but if you find it you will know you are in the right place if it leads to a small lake. Directly across the lake is where you continue on through the trees, directly towards the hills. You should find some trails there. That huge valley is Holsworth meadows. There's a creek at the bottom and lots of hills surrounding. Hopefully this helps.

We dropped in there sunday and saw your tracks. That was the only place we found any deep snow. My first time in that area. The mine road closer to Tumbler is what I called Bullmoose for years and only rode there twice.

Yeah, and another couple buddies went in the following day. I think the road you are referring to (with the mining truck turnoff) is the Wolverine Valley. It accesses some of the same mountains but on the opposite side. Some good stuff out that way I hear, I've only gone once.

when you say go to bull moose, do you take the sukunka forestry road??

No it's not the Sukunka road. The Bullmoose turnoff is about 15 minutes outside of Tumbler towards Chetwynd. You come down a big hill onto a long flat straight stretch and turn left towards the old Bullmoose mine.

Core Lodge

Myself and 3 others went to the Core Lodge on Sunday. Not really any snow. Two or three feet. Enough to lay the sled over and carve, but lots of rocks. We all had a great time and a great first ride, but definitely need more snow in the hills. I think we will try out west of Chetwynd this weekend. I hear there is more snow in the pass.

Went to Bullmoose on saturday and it was the worst snow conditions ever. lots of rocks and grass was sticking out of the snow in the medows(6-10" of snow). Needs about 6' of snow to be good. Had to hold back on the hills.

Hoping to head to the Core Lodge tomorrow (Monday) for an intro/practice ride with the wife. Anyone been there since the last update? There has been a decent amount of snow since then. Probably still far less than ideal conditions I am sure. If no one knows, I will update when we get back.

I was at the core lodge on sat. it is terrible its the least amont of snow i have ever seen there, most spots the grass is still showing. it is ok for a break in ride but be very cautious.
