2010-2011 Chetwynd/Pine Pass Snow Conditions

Common sense not wisdom, I heard it on Peace FM, lol. I am not saying it is right or wrong to go through, just saying why they say the highway is impassable.:face-icon-small-win

5 cabins

5 cabins is at sliversands, when you get to the first cabin at 7k or 11? stay to the left and follow the trail its back there

Tried beaver on saturday, had two BB 900's, an M8 and an xp, BB's had to try twice just to get up the switchback by the tracks, once they were up the stockers made it too after a few tries. Did make it eventually, but didn't even bother going in farther. Weren't in the mood to fight all day trying to break trail up the water fall. So we played around on the power line all day. Anybody know if anyone made it all the way up on sunday yet? There had to be two-three feet of new snow up there. Very tuff going. But great snow even on the power line. Went to Silver sands on sunday, first time there, so didn't go far in, but had fun. Not my type of area from what I saw, but fun non the less with that much snow! Epic weekend. Only wish we could have made it up into beaver.

Silver sands on Sunday. Snow conditioms were perfect, set up just enough you didn't get stuck when you stopped in the powder. Creeks were blown in really good. Only about three feet of snow at best. Trail only broke to the cabins, poked into the bowl trail but not enough snow.

where to go

I've only been up to the pine pass a few times and only rode beaver creek. Whats the sledding like just south of powder king on the same side of the highway? Or is there somewhere else I should check out? Thanks

Beaver Creek and Powder King

We were in Powder King on Sunday and conditions were good. We had to break the trail to the salt shaker area and we never went to the Pine Bowl.:face-icon-small-hapWe did have to put the scratchers down for the first few miles but it did improve up top.

As for Beaver Creek, a few of the guys were in on Saturday and the trail is good BUT the conditions are poor. Everything had slid down to the rocks and shrubs. The snow was hard and crusty, a result of the winds and avalanches.:face-icon-small-fro

old friend was not bad on saturday, pretty crusty down low but very decent past the chute. nobody had been in there since we got the last dump of snow before it got warm. The willows are manageable now

Planning a trip to the pine pass this weekend with my brother in law. Prob gonna ride hassler/ and or bijoux. Had some friends down there last week and said hassler was great but calasands and silver sands were crusty.

Anyone going out this weekend? Interested in meeting up with 2 responsible riders? Always nice to have a couple more then 2.

Suggestions on where to ride?

Cheers

A buddy of a buddy was in Hassler on Wednesday and said it was definitely a bit hard, however there was about 8" of fresh on top. Better than 0 fresh I guess but WE NEED SNOW!

rode hassler last saturday, ripped out a sizeable slide on the elevator. 50m wide with slab about 1.5 m thick at deepest depth. Watch yourselves out there guys!
