I want to move the gauge to the handle bars so I can actually read it while ridding. The looks of it the lights are attached to the same harness. Is there any simple way to still have lights and move the guage. I need lights for at home. If not any other sugestions

Thanks

Speedo Relocate

Here is an idea for you. I couldn't stand not being able to see the tach too.

wow that looks pretty slick, but timbersled has that handle bar bracket that works great, use it with my diamond s and love it.....all i would do is cut away the tape wrap on the wiring harness seperate the wires and re-tape them seperatly!...works great!

Hooch, I just picked up a Diamond S and am thinking to use Timbersleds bracket as well. Can you fire me some pics of it from a couple different angles, i would like to see how it looks and how much room it has for mounting some lights underneath the bracket.

How vulnerable is it mounted to the bars?

How do I keep my stock lights??? That was my question. I have the ability to make my own polished aluminum bracket so I won't need to order one I just want to know if I can keep the lights. If the answer is No you must re-wire everything then I will look at other options

Thanks guys

I think that answered your question..

I have a custom intake that draws air through the stock speedo location... I simply drilled a couple holes above the speedo hole in the hood, then attatched the speedo to a plastic braket and riveted it on... The speedo was above the stock location and much easier to see.
It was still a few inches lower than the top of the windshield and the plastic I used was very flexible so If I were to roll it hopefully wouldn't break the speedo.
I really liked this setup, but with the next generation of my custom intake I had to move it.(switched from a pod to a box and had to relocate speedo)
It is now attatched to my handlebar bag at an angle... Should still be better than stock location but not as good as mounting above stock hole.
Depending on your intake, you could plug the stock speedo hole or use it for venting.
Either of the above ways you can still use the stock headlights.

The problem with this is you can't mount the spedo to the bars and leave the headlights as they run through the same plug so my only option is to mount the spedo someplace on the hood for both to work correct???

If I am missing somethin really simple please let me know

I don't think you are missing anything. That is why I just angled the speedo so that it can be seen while standing up (or sitting down)

This might help, I had to remove the rubber sleeve that the hood wires are routed in, to get to the headlight wires. With the sleeve completely removed you can seperate the headlight wires, leave then in the hood. then run your the rest to your bars. I run diamond hood with no light. I put my guage on the bars, had to fab my own mount since no one has for 09 m8. The reason I had to remove the rubber sleeve, I just cut the headlight plugins off and then just taped it all back up.
