2008 Chevy/GMC 6.0 L Truck

Thanks...anyone lookin for an 08 ford diesel...12000 miles...red...in dash dvd player, wheels and tires, edge chip, spray in bed liner, tonneau cover, heated front cloth seats

Anyone have one? If so what are your thoughts, to do you like them? How does it tow? How bad is the gas mileage? Anyone know how it tows compared to the new ford diesels? What are your overall thoughts?

Thanks

you getting a new truck? with the economy in the tank and the 09s coming out, trucks should be really cheap in December! :face-icon-small-win

I've got an '07 Chevy 3/4 6.0 for my work truck. It flys down the road, and it's comfortable, but I've never seen over 11.6 mpg and I drive all highway miles. Also, whoever said it felt like a teeter toter with 500 lbs in the back is right on the money.

suspenion air bags.

I have an 07 the susspension is very soft so I installed a set of Firestone Ride Rite air bags and that fixed it right up.
There only $224 shipped on Ebay
Air them up when you need them air them down when you don't and enjoy the ride.
Just my thoughts.

stalefish i though i would see you post on this thread haha...but lets be serious here guys nothing pulls like a 5.4triton and you cant beat the new ford 6.4 diesel!!! yeah ford!

Are you serious? My work truck is an 08 6.4 and when its not in the shop it gets 11.8 mpg empty and has trouble accelerating going up hills while EMPTY. If this was my personal truck I would be livid.

Buy yourself a used Diesel! They are still worth it even though the price of fuel is so high.I figure I can pull about 8000lbs up some good size grades and still get about 15 mpg w/ my Dodge. You should be able to find some good deals out there.Good luck!

I had an 03 6.0 chev gasser in my 2500hd and it pulled very well for a gasser but it was thirsty. The best I got unloaded was 14 and I would get around 8 pilling a 4 place open trailer. Very good truck but you need to let it rev to make power, I would pull in third a lot of the time and could go as fast as I wanted but like I stated above it liked fuel.

I traded it in on my 06 Dodge diesel and it is better in every except for the cost of fuel. I can pull the same load and get 15 mpg instead of 8 and I am getting 22 mpg on the highway instead of 14. I can find many used diesels right now if you don't mind the 5$ fuel. If you are looking into a gas the Chev is the best bet, the Hemis is a pig on fuel and the Ford's have NO power.

Good luck.

And there you go!Buy a Cummins. You'll never look back. You could probably get away with a 3.73 gear ratio and get better mileage if doing a lot of highway pulling.Thats the majority of my pulling and it works out great even with 35 inch tires.Go 4.10 if you're doing stop and go pulling though.

Even with the cost of diesel I would never get rid of my Cummins. I just put a set of 35" Nitto's on it, and my MPG went UP, if it were a gasser i'd be regearing, and MPG would drop like a rock. If i'm easy on it I can get about 17in the city, the MPG is twice any gasser i've ever had. The towing power of a diesel is unmatched, combined with a standard and you can tow pretty much anything you'd ever want, have more passing power, and fuel will be less, and the truck will run forever, as long as it's a real diesel, which there is one and only :D
