2006 M7 Hood foam junk?

can you take out the foam out of the hood on the m series without risking melting your hood

I took all of mine out and put reflective heat tape on everything. No problems yet.

I took it off mine and just put a little heat tape a few spots were the pipe was close. Never had a problem.

I did and then heat taped everything. I even wrapped the headlight harness.........

Removed it on my 06 and havent had any troubles yet. I dont see the point of removing 2lbs of foam and replacing it with 1lb of heat tape.

would be a little careful if you also are removing the hood air plenum. my buddie put on pods and melted the bottom of one of his headlights. he said "heat tape, i don't need no stinkin' heat tape!" this was on a 06 M7...

mine was takin off after the first ride and i havent had a problem yet and thats been 3 years and 1200 miles ago

it just extra weight. took mine off on day one with no heat tape and works good!
