2006 900 Dragon has been slain

dude that sucks ***! sorry for your loss but good job for having it insured.darn good looking sled. i got an 08 700 dragon and if you were looking for any of those parts to live on(like your black hood, holz spindles, or other goodies) let me know, after the pain slows brother!

I had one almost get away from me once(stuck throttle)..have gotten in the habit ..every time I start the sled(even in the shop or on the trailer) I always work the throttle first and make sure it is free...has saved me at least 10 times over the years....sorry for the loss.I would fix it..that is a tough bulkhead and if the tunnel bent it is all the more reason to put a cr or van amberg one on..beautiful sled....

I know you feel like this is a bad deal... but we're talking a 900 right? You are one of the few that will ever get any money back out of their 900. ;)

Your left hand throttle maybe? Which are you using? I think I remember awhile back a few people having an issue with their left hand throttle sticking WOT. Were you using a throttle extension with those tall bars and risers? I had a problem when using the FLY pivoting riser and MX style bars on my 06 900 Dragon when I would turn the bars it would idle up quick when my sled was just sitting with the stock cable.

dude that is NASTY..you had one sick sled man..thats truely unfortunate that happened..

BUT..lol..

i am interested in the SLP head/Holz Spindles..

i dont have the patience to wait for the for sale thread..LOL..

good luck with your future plans..

Sorry to see that. That was one sweet looking sled! You must have put in one heck of a lot of hours into it also!

The wierd part is that after you got to the top you must have let off the throttle before you started it up. So if thats correct how did it go wfo?? Strange...did you hit the throttle when or after you shut it off?? You also can get a throttle cable to mushroom inside the housing..usually only happens to older cables or the inner part of the housing can go bad also. I dont think you had anything that didnt look like showroom on that sled though so probably not an issue.

I did once have my old 01 Skidoo mod sled take off with out me due to iced up throttle extension. If you have one or anybody else..I packed mine with waterproof silicon grease that I got at a dive shop(food grade) I am sure there are many other types that would work...then I sealed up the seems with rtv. I got lucky as it was on a trail and did not stick wfo like yours..my friend ditch banged big time to intercept it on his Yamaha..cost me a steak dinner that night plus drinks!

Good luck...you can repair hoods very nicely as long as the cracks are not to drastic. Semi Rigid plastic repair found at any auto paint supply store.

I will be heading to the Poo dealer to get teathers for my Dragon and the wifes new 600 also after seeing that. Thansk for sharing those pics.

HA HA that's almost funny Sad but funny..almost:p
A tether would have shut her down SORRY for your loss
take the money and rebuild it.......we have the technology (975 anyone?)

wyo900, I had the same thing happen to me after loading my sled on the trailer I reached down to turn off the key and the sled took off full throttle off the tailer into my cousin who was standing between the truck and trailer. I thought I killed him. It plowed him into his tailgate, front bumper right in his chest. Luckily the front of the skis hit his bumper on the truck and stopped the sled from crushing him. It then when't back to idle like nothing ever happend. It had to be some electrical glitch. I don't trust it at all anymore. Its like its possesed.

Boy you just aged yourself with these 70's tv shows references from the $6 million man and Kung Fu. :)

Iv had my 06 freeze up twice in the adjuster right below the bars. Once in to the side of the trailer once free ride in to a small pine. Got tired of replaceing stock body so i replaced it with iqr Been much more crash proff

I saw that sled sitting in the parking area at the bottom of red grade. I figured it was yours and just assumed you hit a boulder or something. What a bummer, its always nicer when you can total your own sled trying to do something cool or stupid, it really sucks when it totals itself. But like they said above, thats one way to get your money out of a 900

i had the same thing happen to me yesterday in the big horns, gave it some throttle when i started it and next thing i knew i was rolling off the back of my sled and it was flying off a 10 ft cornice wot, luckily i had a tether and luckily it was still accelerating when it went off the cornice so it landed it and stopped, the throttle stuck twice yesterday, i think its something to do with my fatboys throttle cable.

Sometimes on mine, it is not going back on idle when I leave off the throttle.
I've seen this when trying to go on reverse and was not engaging. Then looked at the rpm and it was like 2500. I have to pull on throttle to return the cable.
I think I need to remove one of the tie-wrap to unbent the cable. I'm also using the fatboy's cable.

but from now, the tether will be on my arm when pulling the rope.

In case none of you got to see this, here it is again back to the top. I also listed a long extensive parts list of aftermarket stuff that will work for alot of 900's and some parts that will work for all IQ sleds. Click the link in my signature line, it should take you to the parts thread. Thanks guys for the sympathy, it is kind of like having a good ole dog die.
