2005 Summit 550 Fan

Anyone have any experience with the 550 fan summit? I found a very cheap one, and am considering it for the wife. We ride the mtns (Snowy range), but mostly trails and playing in the powder, no climbing and nothing too aggressive. Her old sled is an old Phazer 480, so this should be an upgrade. Do you think this sled would be sufficient for her to have fun? Or too underpowered? Any known issues with these? Any insight you can provide would help me out alot!! Thanks

One more thing, it has about 6,000 miles and owner doesn't know if its ever been rebuilt. He thinks it was probably a rental sled at one point. If I buy it, should I do a top end right away, or run it a season? Says it runs fine.

I bought an 06 last year for my wife, and my son ended up riding it most of the year. It is an Awesome sled. We have a couple of old phazers also, and the rev chassis is a huge improvement. The boy got an XP this year, and I think the wife is actually excited to ride this year.

You might think about doing a crank runout test on it, and also pull a compression test. We love ours.

awsome sled but not a lot of power. bought one for my wife and she prefered the 700. she is a very timid rider and i was surprised that she wasn't happy with it. gave it to my 13 year old and she loves it. very easy to steer and comfortable. the sled is the expedition 550f

I had two of those, relatively stock one for my wife (just Aaen pipe/can) 8 tooth drivers to get it geared down enough for the mtns, and 16 X 136 X 1.75 track.

Mine ended up insanely modded, 629 big bore and 395 lbs the above mods and much more.

Here are two threads that tell it all http://www.dootalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=53936&st=0

And the Clutch tutorial, they have a unsual primary which I like so much I put one on my 365 lb 08 TNT mtn mod http://www.dootalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=140014&st=0
I had my wifes set up with a 100/260 or 290 primary spring which turns these into a snow tractor and helps with sidehilling.

Good Luck
