2005 motor swap

I have a 2001 800 rmk with a rebuilt motor. I also found a 2005 with a blown motor. Will my 01 motor fit in the 05? Will the reverse still be a option using the old motor? Thanks for your help in this decision.

The 01' is a non-VES motor while the 05' is a VES motor. I think (key word) the CDIs were programmed differently between valved motors and non-valved motors. So using the 01' motor with the 05's CDI, wire harness, flywheel, and sensors may or may not work. You can certainly drop the 01' motor, CDI, wire harness, & exhaust into the 05' for a non-VES motor in the Edge chassis. Just not sure how the 05' CDI (for reverse) would work with the non-valved motor.

Hello, have done a swap in my 2003 Vertical Escape,

You have to change the flywheel over from the newer engine to get the timing right, think it was about 4 degree difference on 03 engines and newer.

And the only difference in wiring that i found is that the DET. sensor wont be connected unless you drill a hole in your head and fit it in.

Other difference is that the cooling may be routed different on the never engine, and you will have to use the engine mounts from the new engine on the one you want to put in.

Sorry for bad explanation, are from Norway :P
