2002 ZX Carb Problems

Picked up a 2002 ZX Summit with a supposed new motor. New long block was installed about 500 miles ago. Have been busy with holiday projects and finally got to start my sled. It will start with the choke on but when it gets warmed up it revs up on it's own to the point it engages the clutch.NOT GOOD! When you turn the choke off it falls on it's face like it is running on one cylinder. I think it's carbs. Any ideas???

Quite likely it is the carbs.

How long ago was that 500 miles?

My flat slide carbs have never gunked up over the summer. I am not sure what is differenet about them, but ....

Either way - always go through the carbs every season before riding!

one thing to check out, the air lines on the dpm, if they are hooked up wrong it will do the same thing. You can find out the proper line hook up on Ingles. Hope this helps....

Had the same problem right after my rebuild this fall. Check the throttle cable. If the open position was set when the carbs were out, they may have tightened up when placed against the boots. Back off the 10 mm nut on the topside of the cable. Good luck!
