2-wheel kit on M8 w/ported track

I know there have been a number of posts about ported tracks and some about ported tracks with 2-wheel kits but only a few about running the wheels over holes in the track. I bought a 07 M8 162 with three porting holes cut in the center section of the track. Half the width of each inside wheel runs over the holes in the track. I have a BDX 2 wheel kit to install but am concerned about the two remaining wheels running over the porting holes. I would suspect possible vibrations at high speed. What experience have you other guys had with this situation? A few guys said they did it with no problems but would like to hear from more.

Since your M8 has 4 wheels, you are going to have wheels running over those holes whether you have 2 or 4 wheels. I prefer not to have the holes where the wheels are, but a lot of people have done it in the past without problems.

i have a 2 wheel kit and a ported track and the holes go right over the wheel. and have had no problems. this will be my second season.

I ported mine with 3 1-1/4 holes running over the center wheels. Ran one weekend with 4 wheels no vibration, ran it last weekend with 2- wheels. No difference, just had to tighten track and it was good to go.

The rear idlers take a lot of abuse and running them over porting holes doesn't make sense if it can be avoided. In your case, you might as well try it, but I'd keep an eye on your rear axle bolts and adjusters just in case.

Is it necessary to run your track tighter with a 2-wheel kit than with the stock 4- wheel set up?

ive been running my m7 with 2 wheel kit with wheels running right over the ports in the track with no problems with about 10 ride so far. i also have an anti stab kit that ive been running for three years with the little 2.5" or whatever size wheels they are and they also run right through the middle of the ports in the track and been like that for the 3 year duration with no issues other than a bit of vibration when it transfers. oh and i never touched my track adjustment when i installed my 2 wheel kit and it works fine.
