2.6" track question

can the new 2.6" track be directly swapped onto the "old" pro chassis without changing the drivers, trimming rails, etc...?

A 2.5 fits but it's tight. The 2.6 might just squeeze in there. If not all you'd have to do is change drivers

The center lugs will fit without issue. If you trim the outer lugs some (~1/4") for cooler clearance you will be golden with the 8 Tooth drivers. People have done the outer lug trim on both the 2.5" and the 3X with 7 Tooth drivers and have noticed much better track speed and a lot less cooler scrubbing up front at the choke point.

Good news.
Since I'm keeping my '12 for a few more years and my 5.1 track will have over 4,000 miles by season end, I think I'll upgrade to the new track this summer (or whenever it's available).

are the driveshafts between the 2 sleds the same? would swapping to the 7 tooth drivers be pretty straight forward?

You can buy 7-tooth 2.86 pitch drivers from Avid and put them on your shaft. I bought a set from Robbie, he called me and asked me if I really wanted those and said I would be the first / only guy running those in the country... 7-tooth 2.86 on a 2013 Pro driveshaft...

I said yes I really wanted them. To get me more clearance in my tunnel for a 2.5 Camo Extreme, and to gear it down since it is a 600.

I guess I was ahead of my time! Polaris copied me! LOL...

I think they were $230 or $260 plus shipping. whatever they were on the Avid website.

did you have to trim your rails, run an anti-stab kit and all that? I want to a avoid that

lug height

So what is the true lug height of the 2.6. The lug height of the previous track was less than 2 and a half inches?

Was there any noticeable difference gearing the 600 down? How much top end lost if any? I assume this was on a 2013 600?

I was hoping a 2016 drive shaft will bolt right into the pro chassis and I can just purchase oem parts.

Getting it to fit and having proper clearance... may be two different things.

I'd recommend running the 7 tooth drivers with that track... so you are not robbing hp from parasitic drag losses.

Just IMO.

The 8 tooth to 7 tooth drivers gear down on my 13 800 was very noticeable. This was a conversion for the X3 track (162"). I am not sure about the ratio change but it dropped about 10 mph of the top speed, not that I cared about that. Running head to head against an 800 with the stock track, drivers, etc., mine shifts out and will go no faster and they pull away at a pretty good clip.

Yea.... I doubt that the 3" track will be the top-speed sled on the hill.... Unless you are in DEEP snow.

7 tooth, 3" pitch, drivers create an underdrive ratio of .92.

The series 5.1 track is best if the light powder... the 9174/9175 is better where there is more traction... and really does not give up much in the fluff... but a little.

is the new 2.6" track have a 2.86 or a 3.0 pitch? When I put a peak 2.5 2.86 on my 13, it barely, barely fit. and it rubbed a little sometimes on the coolers, I can't image the 2.6" fitting without trimming some on it...
