2.52 or 3 pitch???

lookin for some feedback on the tracks. I was planning on buying a maverick 162X16 3 pitch track for my 1m. Its a little more $$ going to the 3 pitch and i just wanted to know if it was worth it???

whats the track size you have on your sled right now? And your gonna need drop brackets if you don't have them installed already to run a 16" wide track.

I went with a 16 wide, 3 pitch on my 1M and I love it. You will have to put on some drop brackets as mentioned before(Sledjunky makes some great ones). I would recommend putting on an anti-stab kit as well. Also, I would say to go with a Challenger Extreme rather than the Maverick. I really like mine. Just my opinion.

i have the stock 15 wide 151 on there and i plan on the drop brackets anyways so thats all good. I plan on boosting it(9001m) so im thinkin a 252 162x16 will be fine. Anyone think the 3 pitch is that big of a deal or is 252 not much different??

the only input i can give is that if i were you i would go with a 15" track. The 16" IMHO is not worth the extra weight.

I have 3 2004 1M's. A 151, 159 and a KK. The 151 & 159 have 2.52 and the KK has a 3.00 pitch.

The Camo Callanger Extreeme is a 2.5 lug and is a 3.00 pitch.

The Camo Challenger is a 2.3 lug and is a 2.52 pitch.

I have put a 16 X 159 X 2.3 Challenger on my 159 with SJ drop brackets.....with a few other bolt on mods and it was a whole different sled in a good way.

My KK I put a 16 X 162 X 2.5 Extreeme on with a few bolt on mods and it is night and day. It may not be as nimble (But I really don't give a **** cause I weigh 250 and don't have a problem in the first place as some complain about........oohhhh I'm tired at the end of the day....give me a frekin break....sorry I'll get off my soap box..) as a M1000 but it will climb just as high for a lot less $$$.

I am going to be porting the tracks on my 159 & KK and I think that will improve it also.

thanks for the imput guys. Do you guys notice a difference between the 2.52 or the 3s?? I think ill just find any old 162 15 or16 wide? I plan on finishing my turbo kit for it so im sure it will all seem night and day:)

Its not the fact about getting tired. I am 190 and well built. The last time i was tired sledding was when i was 13. On a 16 you just can't carve like you can on a 15. Its hard to explain but its not as fun. The only 16"s i ride are skidoo's and maybe its just the chassis.

I don't notice any difference from the pitch but more track (159 to 162) takes you up a little higher on the hill. If you have a 2.52 pitch driver then I would just slap a track on it that will match your driver.

I_OWN_U, no worries, my comment was not directed at you....its actually from another site and another thread.....that being said my 159 has a MM inside 9 inch wheel kit SJ drop brackets and a ROX 2 inch riser....with just those three mods it heels over easier than my old 136 track sleds...because the wheel kit allows you to heel it over easier I think it cancels the extra inch in track you are adding. with the other two mods it gives it a higher center of gravity and its actually a little to tippy for me so I gave it to my son and he loves it he is 17 and 165 lbs and he will carve with the best through the trees.

A lot of people have said running the extreme is like adding 10-20hp depending who you talk to.
If you can find some decent priced drivers then I would definetly go 162x16x2.5
If you do the math a 16 wide is actually a whole track size bigger as far as footprint. If you ride the deep 16 wide is the only way to go.

From what I hear, for example, a 162x16x2.5 - 3.00 pitch is lighter than a 162x16x2.5 - 2.52 pitch because there is less lugs...... lugs are 3 inches apart compared to 2.52 inches apart...... It also might throw the snow out easier with a 3 inch pitch the way I see it....... Also though, an 8 tooth 3.00" pitch driver is larger in diameter than an 8 tooth 2.52" pitch driver..... Might have to go to a 7 tooth driver if its a 3.00" pitch you go with unless you have room up there.... you might have room without doing a drop and roll..... On my Polaris (I know Cats have more room in front of the drivers) I would have to drop a tooth when moving from 2.52 to 3.00. Anyone want to sponsor a D&R for me so i don't have to drop a tooth?

Go with the extreme 2.5"!!!

I went with a 156X15 extreme on my 900 last year and it made a big difference. When I did my drivers I used extroverts and a smaller diameter (7 tooth) now this year I got a 162X16 extreme and 8 in wheels for the bogie wheels to fit the 16 wide. Can't wait to see how it does. But as far as the 2.52 vs 3.0 it doesn't make too much difference. My old man told me when he was racing the smaller pitch would give you more snap on the bottom end, but youre talking about a few thousands.

Untouchable, I would have to agree with ya...If you want that snap and then some......install some V-force 3 reeds.

I think you are going to like that track. I am also going to put on a 8 inch inside wheel kit from MM.

Definatly report back after ya take it for a ride.

ill do that:) i got a track from my work, happens to be a cat dealer;) its a stock kk track (162x15x2.52) for cheap AND its brand new! Im gonna go with the mountain machines 2 wheel axle and wps 9" composite wheels. I have a perdy gnarly build up planned for the ol beast (162 and custom turbo for the most part). Ill keep you guys posted:) thanks for the input!
