Hey guys, looking at putting a new track on the old beast, '09 m8. trying to figure out which track would be better, see a lot of guys moving up to the 2.6 powerclaw but not much of the 2.5 Camo extreme. Which way would you guys go? Did I just answer my own question???

You best gear down to 55/65 first IMO
So many ways to get the 09 going better. If your not going to gear down then
Spend the money on ported cyls and PCV. About the same $ as the track

X2 on the porting / head / pipe combo on the 09 m8. Makes for a fun ride. Regarding tracks, I prefer the 2.6 pc for all around snow conditions on that sled. There's a fair amount of them out there for sale with guys jumping to the 3 inch pc. I had the 2.5 ce for a short period before put on the 3 inch.

Sorry I wasn't more specific before, I've got all the motor work done with the pipe and everything. It runs really well just ready for a new track, existing 2.25 powerclaw is getting pretty rough so looking to make a move with something a little better. Thanks for the info tho!

2.6" PC

bigger is better, but FyI, i'm currently rocking a 174x2.5CE.
both are Awesome TRacks. assign a side of the coin, and flip it. winner either way. or better yet, which 1 can u get cheaper.

I put a 2.5CE on my 08 and its a great track. I have no experience with the 2.6. From the research I did, I don't think you will go wrong with either.

One needs to be aware of the numbers; a 2.5 inch CE track is an actual 2.5 inch paddle while a 2.6 PC is actually a 2.4 inch paddle so it's a little deceiving. A 2.25 is actually a 2 inch paddle.

Track

I have a camo 2.5 on my 2011 m8 turbo and love it. I was also on the fence about the 2.5 camo or 2.6 powerclaw, can't go wrong with either track. Buy whichever track is cheaper.

I went with a 2.5 CE on my 2010 last year. Part of the reason for not getting a PC was how shot my 2.25 was after a few seasons. Any time I'd get on harder snow or ice it would just flex and scrape. I thought the 2.25 was a fine powder track but just had too many sketchy moments when topping out on windblown icy ridges. I'd be curious to try the 2.6 harder durometer PC though.

Not an entirely fair comparison since I've still never even ridden a 2.6 PC but that was my thinking at least.

I've got zero complaints with the 2.5 CE in blower powder though. I'm not really sure I gave up much in that department.

I've had 2.25 power claw and 2.6 on my 2010 m8. The 2.6 is better but not as good as the 2.5 CE I had on my 1m.

I've been running a 153" 2.5" CE for a couple of years on a 2010 M8. It's a big improvement over the 2.25 power claw. Unfortunately I've never rode the 2.6" power claw so I can't compare the two. I've upgraded sleds this year and now have a 162. I think I'll be looking for a 162 2.5" CE after this year.
