1998 Indy 500 carb problems??? (HELP!)

I
My friends 1998 Polaris Indy 500 has problems even running right. We started it today and we had to play with the throttle and choke to even keep it idling. When you run it, it almost sounds like it bogs constantly, but im not sure.

any ideas???

Have you cleaned the carbs? Are the fuel lines in good condition (no holes, this includes your water traps.) Whens the last time the fuel filter was changed? Are any of your fuel lines pinched?

The usual solution for this problem is to completely dismantle the carbs and thoroughly clean them. Don't just spray some carb cleaner or such on them but remove the main jets and pilot jets and physically clean them using a small wire. I usually yank a wire from a wire brush and use it to run through all the small openings.
