1996 V-Max 600 Good or Bad????

A friend of mine is looking at a 1996 V-Max 600. It is really nice shape and has electric start, vari-flow, and a 1.25" paddle track on it. Neither one of us know too much about Yamaha and were just wondering if it's a good sled or what if any problems they had. Any info would be nice.

They are heavy! Decent trail sled though. Not a huge fan of the pogo sticks though.

Good for what? Don't expect it to be a climbing savage or even a decent boondocker compared to what's out now-days. in sled years, that's an oldie! If you just ride trails it would work fine though.

Only problem I had with a '95 600 I owned was that it was hard on primary rollers and belts. Put a comet clutch on it to fix the problem.

I had a 96 shorty, just about indestructible, those pogo sticks handled many a rock pile at three in the morning. Great cornering sled, not much good for the deep. Only problem I had was starting, choke was adjusted properly and still crappy starting, flip her on her side for 20 seconds, set her down, start on first pull every time, go figure. Lots of fun memories!!!!
