180 MC boost pressure question

Guys I just installed the 180 hp turbo kit in my machine and would like to know what the boost pressure should be at 2200 ft and at 6000-7000 ft.
I have been told that i will need to adjust the waste gate once we get snow. I have hooked up the waste gate to my air compressor with a low pressure reg to set the waste gate but it is a little harder due to the way the unit moves. A while ago someone post a graph on the boost pressures but I can not find it and I did copy it but it is way to small to read. Any help will work for me.

Hi Mountainblue, weclome to the Low Boost Club, you'll love it! I'm at about 1000' elevation and set mine at approx. 6 psi, the chart you refer to states approx 7 to 7.5 psi for the altitude you mentioned. Once you get that set then take it up to elevation and find a nice hill with 3' of fresh powder and pin it! Check you boost then adjust accordingly, don't forget to adjust your boost gauge once your at elevation (if it does this). 6 to 7000' should be in that 9-10 lbs boost, again according to the chart. I'm pretty close to this, hitting around 10 lbs at 7-8000' and I'm more than happy with this.....Sherm

Listen to Sherm, he have his 180 tuned in,
but it doesn't hurt to understand why MCX can rise boost when climbing to higher altitude without sacrificing reliability,
an engine only see total pressure, total pressure is boost + air pressure,
as everyobe know that air pressure drops when getting to higher altitude, starting with ~14.7psi @ sealevel and dropping ~ 0.5psi every 1000 feet, that is 4% every 1000 feet,
sealevel = 14,67 psi
1000 feet = 14,16 psi
2000 feet = 13,66 psi
3000 feet = 13,17 psi
4000 feet = 12,69 psi
5000 feet = 12,23 psi
6000 feet = 11,78 psi
7000 feet = 11,34 psi

So if you set it to 6psi @ 1000 feet, you should see 14,16 - 11,34 = 2,82 + 6 = 8,82psi @ 7000 feet.
you can also calculate backwards, 6psi @ 1000 feet = 14,67-14,16 = 0,51 = 6 -0,51 = 5,49psi @ sealevel.
All with the same reliability because all these boost levels are the same total pressure (air pressure + boost pressure) which means that the engine cylinder pressure are the same @ all these altitudes, and the power obviously also is the same,,,,

My boost was at 10lb last time i rode, thats to high for where i want it on pump gas. I turned the rode out one and a half turns, and it only dropped it 1 lb to 9 lbs of boost. I got home today and turned out out one more turn. will this be enough? i thought forsure I would be down in the 7-8 range by now? keep in mind guys i am riding very high up to get to snow this early. 7000 feet.

how many turns have you guys had to back out your rode to get the low boost kit down to where it should be?

I also have a boost dial, so it i get it down to 7 lbs in the mountains i can tune it back up.

Are you guys running manual boost controllers or running the TCS ? It makes a difference. If you run the auto don't touch a thing. You should see 6psi at Sea and 8-9 at 7000ft Automatically ! All safe on pump !

If your running manual set 6 at Sea and 8-9 at 6500-7000ft Manually ! All safe on pump ! That wastegate rod should be set for sea level pressure, the manual boost controller will control the rod.

The auto TCS will adjust accordingly. There should be no need to fawk with the rod. I highly doubt it came that far out of spec from the factory if your trying to use the manual controller. I also believe if your running the auto TCS valve then turning the wastegate rod does nothing, it just keeps compensating does it not ??? T-Bird ?

i am running both on my nytro. the boost controler is set as low as it goes.
